Also the 230K and 320 there is not much of a difference. So STI JL might be right that his 230K was faster because with those numbers it's all up on how the car performs and how well it grips.
230K 0-60 7.5
320 0-60 7.3
That's pretty weak for the 320 now I see why people get the 230K instead. With a pulley upgrade it'll for sure pull away from the 320.

2012 E550 Convertible, 2009 Audi Q5 3.2
I own both of these vehicles (actually just sold the C320 and bought my wife a 2005 C55). Have never formally measured them- the ML500 is my daily driver but occasionally drove the C320. The sedan definitely seemed faster and more responsive. I enjoy driving both in a "spirited" way. The ML500 is an awesome vehicle, but it is big and heavy. Now the C55 is a totally different story. My money is on the C.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with the AWD part. Just because it's all wheel drive doesn't mean its going to take off faster. The ML is Auto if it were Manual then yes you can rev the RPM higher and drop the clutch but since it is Auto and AWD he can't launch very fast. AWD (all wheel drive) looses a lot of power to the wheels. You can't just look at the HP to the crank. The horsepower to the wheels is what matters.
I would say just to the wheels the ML will get 220-230 HP to the wheel from 288. That's probably being very reasonable.
The C320 doesn't have high amounts of torque that's going to make the wheels spin like crazy. I think with traction off you might get a little spin (not a burnout) What I mean by this is both cars are going to grip and go. So AWD isnt going to matter, AWD is going to be a negative for the ML driver.
My 500 HP Audi was Dynoed at 425 to the wheels and that was a miracle for an AWD car to loose so little HP.
Have hope kid, You got this guy.
Just be safe
Keep me posted.

Sorry, not to change the subject, but yes, I got my bet on the C320.

This is going to be a good race. I still say the 320 still has a good chance. How fast are you guys planing on going? Till the car tops out ?
Do you guys have the ML 500 1/4 mile time?
320 is 15.6 1/4 which is pretty average.
GL guys be safe.

1999 CLK320 (sold), 2007 C230 SS (gone), 2000 Grand Marquis, 2011 CR-Z, stay tuned...
I'll definitely put my money on the C, at least till 80+. I have/had a CLK320 (stock) and it will easily beat a CLS550! I tried it out. It will also beat my dad's S550.

The C is going to win is what I meant.
People really need to start reading more carefully. My point was two cars same horsepower one supercharged on non supercharged the non supercharged car would win because naturally aspirated cars are quicker.
Anyway anyone wanna make a bet? Why don't you guys put your money where your mouth is. 20 Bucks says the ML is going to lose.
It's easy to talk on a forum.
Hey kid, here is what you do. Just lower the PSI a little, turn off traction and go for it.
20 Bucks says the kid is going to win the ML.
Payment will be sent via PayPal.
Anyone up for the bet?????

btw all this talk is worth nothing...
who would have taught that the zonda will beat the bugatti on top gear's track ??
the bugatti had 350 more hp, same thing for torque, but the extra 500kg screwed it all....
so unless you are going to quarter mile, the "race" is yours...

That's similar to the M3 VS C63. The M3 can only beat the C63 on the track (twist and turns) but on the streets the C63 is the dominant male.
C63
A CLK320 beating a CLS550 and even an S550???? Thanks for the tip that's good to know next time a S550 pulls up next to me.
I don't know what the CLK320 does 0-60 but the S550 does it in 6.14 sec

Don't listen to crap about adding octane booster - That will make F/A difference - take the airbox & cleaners off your car & run 50 miles or so to let it adapt before the run.
You gonna nail that flying brick Kev.

To clarify, the CLK320 vs CLS550 was not from a standing start. But from a rolling start, the 320 will take the 550 (up until 80-85). Because of this, and the weight of the ML, the C320 has the advantage.

daily drivers cant do that, so basically the M3 will be slightly better on corners, and the C63 much much better on steets...
