Fiberglass vs polyurethane Spoilers

I have read around the forum but didn't find much on the differences of the two. I am looking for a rear lip spoiler and ran across two that are similar in style and price but one is fiberglass and one is polyurethane. I have read comments about both.... good and bad. JBSpeed has a fiberglass one and has said it doesn't have the wavy lines in it and another seller has a PUR one.

Anyone have an opinion on which is better and last longer. Thanks

The fiberglass body parts are really fragile. PUR will take a beating more so than the fiberglass version. Also, it's worth it to pay more for the PUR to ensure you won't get any waviness, as the waviness can make the install go from $100 to paint and install, to $300 for labor to fix the issue.

I hope that made some sense lol.

Good luck bro!

for a spoiler it really does not matter, i got the fiberglass one because it was cheaper and no mold line for the most part. its not like its a lower lip kit that will be incontact with road debrie

Fitment is also an issue with fiberglass.

Been said before - bad fit is bad molds, regardless of what they are cast in. Fiberglass in general is less forgiving than PUR in all respects - it handles impact worse, and because it's a "stiffer" material in general, fit issue are more pronounced - you can't easily "bend" fiberglass.

Personally I stay away from fiberglass, for the above reasons.

I got my fiberglass rear spoiler from JB and it was a good quality product. Had purchased some nice poly stuff as well, but for just the rear application the fiberglass has worked well for me, and I like the no-wave part.

Ironically they are within they same neighborhood for price , so it really comes down to which is a better performer for me. Fitment seems to be thing to watch for. I know JB will guareentee his fitment, he has said so. I guess I should check on the other one and see if he quarentees his product. Are there any people I should stay away from due to quality and/or fitment? Like e-bay people!

i got the rear spoiler from JBspeed and the rear fits great but the front lip does not, while he said he guarantee fitment it does not seems like it so far. the front lip i got does not fit well (well not perfect fitment like he said anyways) its about a 1/4 bowed out on the sides. Like i said the rear spoiler fits great but the front does not, he seems to not want to refund the part like he said instead so far is only offering to discount a few other parts if i want to buy it.

If the other guy guarantee fitment and uses a better material (polyurethane) I would go for that. Check the classified sections cause I am selling a C55 polyurethane lip and fits perfectly.
