C320 Vs. C230K

I have a couple of questions, 1) i sold my camaro (v6), and I am looking for a nicer car, and the debate now is between the 320 and the 230. I read quiet a bit from this forum about the 230, not much about the 320....don't know why. i am wondering if some of the people that are familiar with those cars, would tell me some pros and cons. Just something to help me a lil. Another thing, is, I am wondering, do they make pullies and other mods for the 320 at all???

the C320 coupe just came out not to long ago, like this month. also no supercharger for the C320 therefore no pulley. then again there is no pulley for the 2003 C230, or atleast im told there isnt!

well, are there any mods that would increase the ponies on the c320?? i mean the c320 would sound good if it can be raised to let's say 230 - 240 HP....which is only like 15 - 25 horses away.

Well you could add a Kleemann supercharger that would get you to ~350hp

im not sure if there is a chip out for it. even if there were the engine is naturally aspirated so i dont think you would be able to get the same increase as you would with a kompressor or turbo. im really not sure what you can get out of the 320. im sure someone here knows. im sure lynn knows more than i do.

yea, i need to order my car like within 2 - 3 weeks, and i really need to know, ,if i can mod the c320, because i already test drove both (the 230, and 320), and the 320 accelerates with much more ease. i can tell the difference so easily. so that's why it would be real nice if i can get something relativly easy, that would make it a lil faster.

i think with ease mopd, it would be the 230 cause a pulley would be easier than a s/c. im not sure when a pulley is due out, if one isnt already out, but if your looking to mod id say go with the 230.

yea, but the 230, felt like u really have to make it work to accelarate, while the 320, just kinda accelerated so much easier. I didn't hear the engine wine up like the 230, and u can really feel the torque in it, unlike the 230. i don't know, it just felt better, and i would hate to buy it, and not be able to make it faster, except spend some 14 grand, ,on a SC.

C320 Coupe
The 320 is much more expensive to mod than the 230 and they will only get you to 235ish HP. Brabus has a cam and exhaust kit for 3500 and I've seen few chip upgrades that were over $1000.

If you were happy with the 0-60 performance of your V6 Camaro, then the 230 should be sufficient. The performance over 80 Mph should be much better in the 230 compared to the V6 Camaro. A chipped 230 (or European computer) will get you to 145 - 150. I believe all V6 Camaro's were governed to 110 - 115 Mph and chip upgrades don't undo a GM governor.

The 230 also has much less weight over the front tires.

If you got to have the most performance possible, get the 320; otherwise, get the 230

thanks man, that was really helpful. the camaro was ok. and that's why i am trtying to make sure that my next car is a lil faster, i don't want to spend a lor of money. a lil here and a lil there is going to have to be my approach. thats why i am trying to see, if there are any small mods. I wonder why can't there be a pulley for the 320 though, or headers, or like a hi flow cat or exhaust, or just anything.

Evosport has a set of under drive pulleys for the C320 which should yield 14hp at the wheels. I believe they are developing headers for the C320. For $3300 you can get a chip and carbon fiber air box from Renntech which will give 237 hp. After that it is cheaper to get the Kleemann supercharger for $10,000.

i think you need a supercharger to get a pulley (dont quote me), and the 320 has no s/c, the 230 does. thats why you can get the pulley which means cheap hp gains verses no s/c such as the 320. also no matter what mods you want, a mercedes is gonna be $$$$ to mod no matter how you look at it. if you want to mod i say go with the 230 and have fun! you could make it have more hp then the 320 for the same $$$ amount worth of mods on both cars!

I dont know...so far, only the pulley sounds somewhat appealing. and hopefully it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I think the underdrive pulleys are a couple hundred bucks. You should probably go with the 320 and get these pullies, and you should be satisfied.

I still don't know how good of an idea it is to mod the 230 because it is already running pretty high boost. So you probably wouldn't want to get one of these and push it too much harder.

thats my fear about modding the 230 and why i wont do any engine mods. im content with the engine the way it is and am bascially just doing cosmetic stuff for myself!

If you have always has a aftermarket stereo you will never be happy with the coupes stereo, the bose sounds slightly better, allot of people have replaced there entire system. You do realize the hu is a cassette player

take a cd with you to the dealer somthing with a good amount of bass, it might help you decide if it will work out for you

Schwarz is correct. Take a thumping CD to the deal and listen. The Bose system have good clean sound, but they are extremely bright (and I like bright speakers) with no bass. I wouldn't buy the Bose unless you get the C7.

If you drive at hi-way speeds with your windows down, and or sunroof open, make sure you have the stereo turned up loud enough to over come the road, and wind noise.
