2005 c280 brake issue

hi

warranty is almost up. i have had an issue where it seem i have to press the brakes pretty far down for them to work. the brakes themselves work well but the sensitivity of the pedal is very low. is there a way to adjust this????

thanks

Not trying to be sarcastic, but if the warranty is still good (almost up) I'd take it in ASAP.

Does it help if you pump the brake pedal a few times? If so there could be air in the system.

Have you ever changed the brake pads or had the fluid flushed? If not you shouldn't expect the brakes to work very well anymore!

since its a 05...more then likely you need to change your pads. sometimes you need to change your pads before the brake indicator goes off.

Your pads are worn & your calipers are over returning giving you a low pedal. Fit new pads. DO NOT push the pistons back any further than required to slide new pads into place. Do both front & rear together even if rear has more life or you will still have a lowish pedal.

If you have never had the fluid flushed it is VERY important to do that BEFORE changing the pads (compressing the caliper pistons will push the contaminated fluid up into the rest of the system and could cause expensive damage).

This is wise advice if you have not maintained the braking system as Benz recommend.

my front are grinding excessively when i press on them but even when i dont apply the brakes they slightly grind (warped rotors?) but go away after 15km/h. im gonna change them to ebc green stuff and ebc slotted n dimpled rotors. hopefully all is well after that. my rears are still ok pad life is good and rotors are smooth! is bed in the brakes necessary ? do i need my brake fluid flushed?

Yes & Yes if not flushed in the last 2 years. Don't expect greenstuff to reduce brake dust much - you need redstuff to do that.
