Yeah, I didn't want it there either, sometimes I hate cell phones, but I wanted a color cell and MB didn't have one...

Stock BOSE unit, amp speakers, center channel and sub.

I really like how everything looks, good job. I was thinking about putting a Cell-phone kit in my car also. I have seen a few other people do it as well. Anyway, again look good

congrats man, looks real nice. a few questions.
1.) what happened to the climatronic?
2.) how much did the screen and dvd run you?
3.) does the changer player dvd/vcd/mp3?
4.) please explain to me how you got the phone to work with the speaker/mic.

thanks.

1. Please see this post: https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...threadid=23666

2. The screen was $1,300, which included the DVD, but not the $800 required 'brain' - Total for audio system was over $5,000.

3. No, changer only plays CD's. Both in dash units (I can play 8 CD's) play DVD/VCD's.

4. The Base for the phone works with its own speaker (mounted inside the center channel grill) and the mic at the speedo.

Yes. Did it bring the Bose speakers to life?

Honestly, i'm not sure. My last car had $2,500 worth of speakers and another $2,000 worth of Amp's and such and the only time I noticed it was when I watched a DVD. The gun shots would scare me half to death. I was thinking about upgrading the system itself and my GF said, why bother, 99% of the time the system is so low you can barely hear it....I love to hear the engine scream! I know the stock BOSE stinks, but I never paid that much attention to it in the first week I had the car (when I put the new system in) to tell the difference.

so with the phone install, is it a kit.....such as those available with each phone (car kit) or is it possible to do a custom job?

Verizon sells the kit....they have a kit for almost all their phones. I think mine was $350 plus install which normally is around $150-200.

The good thing about it is that it is compatable with all Motorola phones to a degree. If I change my phone all I need to change is the base, the rest of the kit (harness, speaker, mic, etc...) remains the same. Its like $50...and takes 10 mins to change. The external antenna isn't cut into the car in any way, its magnetic and double face tape (foam tape) so I could always move it. Right now it seems like the best location since the hatch would get in the way if the antenna is in the rear. If MB was up to date on Cell phones instead of using a discontinued V60 I might have gone with the OEM solution.

BTW, the phone charges while its in the base. I can speak to the phone to dial out and it records voice memo's. I love the color screen, looks amazing at night in the stand...i'll try and grab some pics tomorrow night.
