Curt makes a receiver hitch that I installed on my 06 280. It is a 1.25" receiver but I use a 1.25" to 2.00" adapter to accept my bike rack. I think the tongue weight allowable should be more than sufficient to support a small trailer/water craft. Curt may make a receiver hitch for your vehicle, check their website or go to a website of your choice. I purchased mine via Amazon. Curt part #11824.

Hi,
Do you have a picture you can show me of what the hitch looks like on your car? I have a 2005 C230 Kompressor sedan. I purchased the same curt hitch that you have. I held the hitch under the car w/o removing the bumper & it seems like I'd have to cut a hole in the bumper for the thing to fit. Is that right, or does the hitch fit underneath the bumper?
Thanks in advance!
Brian

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
MBUSA does not like to admit that you can tow with a Mercedes because Americans think it means they can tow a forty foot Airstream trailer. Europeans tow Jet Ski's, sail boards, and bike trailers all the time. They also tow very small camping trailers. For the Wagon trailer weight is 2,000 lbs, tongue weight is 200 lbs. Sedan has 2,500 lbs total weight, with a 200 lb. maximum tongue weight. The Jet Ski should be no problem.
I believe that Curt hitches install without cutting, but do need some drilling, and even are invisible when not towing.

It is interesting that MBUSA advises against towing (mostly because the cooling system can't handle a heavy load) but will sell you a towing module that mounts to the rear SAM to allow the trailer lighting to work without throwing codes.

Different places different regulations apparently...
In EU my C180 Wagon is allowed to tow 3300lbs (1500kg) if the trailer has its own brakes and 1650lb (750kg) if the trailer has no brakes. I have a hitch like this one: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Anhangerkupplung-starr-MERCEDES-C-Klasse-Lim-06-00-03-07-13po-sp-ES-NEU-ABE-/271222424857
Don't know if 3000 lbs is a very small camping trailer with US measure stick...?

Yes 3,000 lbs is a small trailer. My location trailer is rather small, a 31 foot Sovereign. It weighs 5,000 lbs empty, with a 550 lb tongue weight. I cannot tow it with my Benz.
The weight limits in the US are a combination of the type of hitch, and the capacity of the vehicle. I quoted the capacity of the Curt hitch, which is bolted on. Welded hitches can go higher, but the towed vehicle must have brakes.

A 31 foot sovereign beeing something like this?
No - that i wouldn't try to pull. XD
There are no welded trailer hitches in the EU afaik, they are all bolted on, with reinforcement plates for the specific car. The detachable curt hitches didn't look so hot, largely visible even with the ball detached.
The westfalia hitches are more like the original MB part, if not _the_ original part http://www.ebay.de/itm/Mercedes-C-Kl...-/180509674235
Completely invisible when detached.

Thanks for the replies! With the curt hitch, I suspect that the receiver is completely hidden, and behind the plastic bumper cover. Now I am trying to figure out how I can attach my bike rack to the hitch as will not be able to go "straight in". Some kind of adapter, that perhaps acts as an extension to the receiver, but has some kind of s curve to hook it below the bumper?
