Need 5 reasons to get C230K
1. panoramic moonroof
2. c7 package - great looking wheels for cheap
3. a little more than some comparable cars - RSX, CL - w/ more safety features
4. its a fun car to have
5. never had a merc before
+Solid chassis feel (ride&handling)
+Safety
+Unique style (and can be made VERY nice w/some AMG wheels and body kit)
+6-speed
+alot of features for the money ($29,000 buys you full leather, panorama roof, Bose sound, pwr. seats w/memory, CD changer, plus all the standard stuff)
+Its a Mercedes!
-needs a few more horses (AMG exhaust will fix that without voiding the warranty)
+The style--a definate head turner, but still suitable for a middle aged school-teacher/business consultant couple. Stylish but not oozing testosterone or mid-life crisis.
+Awesome panorama roof. Wonderful inside and out.Makes it fun to sit in the back and enjoy the view. (anyone sat back there on a starry night on a dark road?)
+Safety. Mercedes does not make safety an option, all the safety features available are built right in.
+Handling--but hey, what do I know about that, I was driving a minivan.
+Price point. This car was actually less $ than my 1985 bottom of the line diesel wagon (which listed for 36k back then). 29k for auto, full leather, cd, metallic, panorama roof...a great deal.
+It is a Mercedes. Something funny about the Mercedes line. It is hard for most people to distinguish the different models unless you are very knowledgeable about the line. So, to most people, all they know is that you are driving a fine car.
+It is a Mercedes. Good resale & reliability (at least in the past).
+A fun car for "early adopters" (folks who like new things). And I expect it to be more reliable than my 1972 Mazda RX-3, which went thru 3 engines in 120k miles.
+You can equip it to be fashionable in LA or keep it stock for more conservative areas.
+And don't forget it is a hatchback--it's always nice to have that room.
2. You can Scotchgard the seats!
3. You can confuse your friends by constantly referring to your Hatchback as a "Coupe." (Or, you can go Euro on them and call it a "Coup-eeh").
4. Can tell everyone with a straight face that you "drive a Benz."
5. VW Corrado looks without the stigma of a low price.

Afterall, a Nissan 240/260/280Z, 300ZX, Mazda RX7, Porsche 924/968, Porsche 928, Corvette, Toyota Supra, etc. are all COUPES beyond doubt... and they are also all HATCHBACKS.
Alot of the systems in the Sedan and Coupe are similar, if not identical. If you insist on bashing the Coupe, in a sense you are also bashing your own ride.
I'm not looking to start a war. As far as I'm concerned, I'm just politely asking for some moderation.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
1. You can say, "Yes, it's a V6" with a straight face.
2. It's only $2500 more per door, if you really break it down.
3. You can call out to Prizm owners as they pass: "It's really a Benz!"
4. The 6-speed really does put it on the verge of "zippy".
5. Other Benz owners will now view it as the second-worst model now. Congrats!
At least he didn't get personal. A little ribbing isn't such a bad thing.
As long as he can take it:

Rear drive is hard to come by in compacts these days- big +!C230/6speed/orion/C7/changer - Just born! on its way over!
91 mr2 turbo - Not going anywhere for awhile.
5. Engineered and built by the same guys who brought you WWII.
4. Qualifies as a true Sports Car (rear-wheel drive, supercharged engine, 6-speed manual, sports suspension, etc.)
3. It's more practical than a typical sports car (seats 4, hatchback)
2. Panoramic sunroof looks cool when viewed from a highrise.
1. It beats your previous ride, a Neon with three-star emblem taped on.
