NO - unlike the W211, W219, R171, W220 DVD comands, the facelifted W203, W209, W164 have DVD comands that come with an INTEGRATED navigation drive. Which is only to be used for nav.DVDs. No DVD playback on these units.

They are talking about DVD based EURO command for 2005+ -- those won't work. The CD based command for 2004 and below W203s does work.

I have the Euro Command on my C230 / 2005, it does works fine in US, the GPS has a british like accent, i think is funny, the DVD is purely for navigation but it does have 2 VIDEO inputs, I have a rear DVD Player for passengers and add an replaced the cigarrette lighter with 3 RCA jacks and a regular outlet for anything to be plugged, I also attached my iPod and works great, I am very pleased with it.

just to clarify...i thought that some euro command were SAT nav. if thats the case, shouldnt it work in the USA? i know that the dvd based command will not work. or im i wrong and there is NO SAT nav for the 2005+ W203?

all comands are satellite nav units. USA 2005 and later comands are ALpine made and euro are becker made. To use a Euro comand in usa requires a modified map disc which does not work most of the time and surely does not work with the latest map data. If you have 2 a/v input then you probably have the TV tuner as well. I would suggest you buy a proper USA navigation unit from Steve. s_krabbenborg@hotmail.com

I decided to make my own DVD and guess what it works

I altered the 2006.1 DVD for the MCS COMAND to comply with my harman/becker euro COMAND for W203

That's wonderful...as I'm stuck with the original version from 2005 modified by MBenzNL and would like to upgrade to the latest US nav DVD. I would like to know how you did it. Thanks in advance.

ok so i got tired of asking people and people telling me this was impossible that the Euro COMAND will never navigate you but i got it working 100% now!!! (including voice guidance) i hacked the 2006.1 US DVD and made it work in the Euro unit! (secret)

Hi, regarding the dvd display, I brought my car in Germany 6 weeks ago and I can't even watch a dvd when the car is at stand still. Can this be hacked ?

For A, B, C, CLK, M, R, Vito, Sprinter, Smart it will never play DVD.

thats correct, i modified the DVD only to make it think there's a Euro disc in there but the actual content is form a US/CAN 2006.1 DVD for the MCS unit.

I didn't do any modifications to the unit.

to play video you will need separate hardware to do so butchan

I tried doing that with 05 and it did not work. It's hit and miss with 04. Good it works with 06.
