The car I've been looking at lately is a '00 '01 C240 just because my friend has one but I love it.

My question is, is this a good Mercedes to be looking at? What problems may I come across with this model and would it be worth it to own. Also maybe any other advice anyone could give me on getting another type of MB

Also if this helps I am a college student but just love MB. My last car was a 1985 Mercedes-Benz 190e 2.3-16v Euro Spec until I totaled it. The car saved my life and I can't imagine driving any other vehicle thats why I'm sticking with MB.

Hmm im a college student as well... But if i would have known how many issues these cars have..I wanted a c32 but i couldn't find one when i was looking... Lets just say your pocket book will not be going out to dinner with friends anymore... More like repairing expensive *** parts.. Just remember the retail price maybe low but each part on the car is worth 100 dollars or more..

Weatherstripping drivers door 100 dollars
Center console were it says park N drive ETC.. well a clip broke on the bottom of that don't ask me how.. 140 dollars
Stepper motor clips just broke ????
New battery 150
New brakes new pads $$$$???

Im only 20 when i was working this car was easy cake to pay for.. But now i have other ways to pay for my car muahahaha

Yeah I'm pretty aware of the costly repairs on MB. As you saw before I had the rare 190e Cosworth I even had the Euro model and late 1985 version so it was extra hard to find parts for and if I did they were super expensive.

But this does help a lot with narrowing it down to which car I should get.

Where do you live?
In SoCal there are a lot of great w203s.
For example a 2003 C32 with 81,00 miles for $17,000. But that's not all this C32 comes with extended warranty that ends: 178,000 mile 2018 EXTENDED WARRANTY

That means this car will probably get you through Grad School and maybe even If you decide to go with a PhD

What i'm trying to say here is Look for a car that has extended warranty
Then you won't have to worry about this breaking or that breaking.

At the time when I was looking to buy a C I didn't know about the C32. Or else I would have got that instead of C350 (I mean look at the amazing warranty).

Yeah i didn't know about the 350's or the c32 amgs... When i tried about 20 different dealerships to get financed.. Only one would help me with 5k down.

i say get a c32..difference between a c320 and c32 is only $6k. When the difference was more like $20k new.

If not a c32, try to look for 05+ model. Most of the problems have been fixed by then.

For 8-9k its kinda tough getting a W203 sedan with normal mileage especially if you want the manual. I got my 01 c240 last year for 9500 which was amazing then but now I regret it. Ny newb *** didn't realize that all the parts cost way way more than an equivalent part for say a honda or something. That and the fact that first 2 years of a new generation have more problems. If you have a stable and decent income and you can work on basic-intermediate level stuff on your car, then its fine, otherwise don't bother.
