Tranny Question

Yes. MB said transmission fluid was good for life in the C. I initially believed the "for life" claim but tested the fluid to verify and found it broke down at around 130K.

Both transmissions 722.6 & 722.9 have a 60,000Km / 37,000 mile change recommendation now. Preferably with the latest generation fluid. Latest generation fluid is mandated for the 722.9 - 7G.

oh i see,
so i should be using the same stuff they put in the 7g tranny.
i guess MB decided to change it to 37k mi for reliability concerns. (instead of the life cycle interval.)

how much difference is the 1/4 mile or 0-60 in dyno mode?
Will I get better number?
Anyone know 1/4 mile with dyno or without?
Thanks

Ill try dyno mode tomorrow on a priv road just to be safe.. This is how i got in to my accident i took the esp off and a car just decides to slam on her brakes right in front of me... So i slam on mine and i just heard this loud shuttering noise.. No skid marks from my car i ended up in the back of her =/
In the middle of my center console i saw this yellow triangle blinking while i slammed on the brakes.
Good thing for great insurance =D

Yes - In filled for life markets like the US I think Benz had too many warranty claims. South Africa has always been 60,000Km change even on the 5 speed.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
it was done in Sac. at the dealer, but only used 4 quarts.
Tranny holds over 9, takes like 12-14 quarts to a full flush correctly.
Search on my thread 'all things AT related' or something like that.
My sh-it was thick and black.
All tranny wierdness went away after a full flush.
I had it analyzed too...it was way far gone.
And fill it as close the top as possible...
I read something on that...if it's not to the top it can get bubbles.
FYI-Do not drive in dyno mode with an auto.
At least not for an extended period.
Weird things will happen...just trust me...
It's not a complete program for all driving conditions..at some
point it just stopped while in D. Scared the pants off me.
Haven't done it since.

I am not saying anyone should drive in dyno mode, only when you want to have fun for a lil bit and the road conditions allow it to. First timers gotta get use to it first, afterwards you feel a lil more confident next time you go out for a spin.

Do the full flush. I went 120K before doing it, though supposedly

thanks a lot for the info C230 Sport Coup!
im pretty certain that my ATF is nearly broken down by this time and getting that done i should feel a significant difference.
oh btw, you said you got it done in Sac at the dealership, how much did it cost over there??

You know what, I think there is truth to this. Back a few months ago (maybe like 4 or 5) we had some snow around here where I live. So, normally, with owning a rear wheel drive car, it's time to do some donuts! So I got to an empty parking lot at a lake close by, big and open for the boat trailers. Switch it into Dyno mode and go crazy flying sideways across the parking lot (on purpose). After that fun, I turn off dyno mode and drive home. Since then, I've been getting frequent ESP, ABS, and BAS errors (all three at the same time). The MFD will pop up with these Malfunctions or errors, I can't quite recall, and to visit the workshop. Well, I haven't yet, but it's been doing since that one day in the parking lot in dyno mode.

hmm, thats not surprising to hear. when you switched back to normal mode, its okayy again right?
xMaximus has the exact same problem. I put it on dyno mode for him and when driving, it only stayed in first and second. His car is a 02 C240. Same year as yours. Honestly, this is a really good question. Maybe it has something to do with the dyno mode programed for that year? im not sure.

I too tried dyno mode the other day...kinda scary at first because it turns off all ABS and BAS systems too, but the throttle response is just too FUN! Yikes! It took me awhile to figure out how to turn it back off and get back to normal mode because turning off engine, removing key, and restart engine didn't make it normal again, haha.
In regards to being stuck in 1st and 2nd gear...i'm sure you already tried already...but did you try to shift manually? That didnt work? I'm not really sure how to solve this prob, sorry. Perhaps try to turn off dyno mode, go back to normal, then back into dyno again? Does it only get stuck when ur in dyno mode?

When i turned dyno mode off the car was perfectly fine again.. But i was on a priv road messing around.. After finding out i was stuck in second gear i just pulled over and turned it off.
Yes i saw the car was in D so i dropped it to first gear because i wanted a little fun with the manual shifting. But i came to find out that second gear was my last gear! I could shift through first and second just fine but all other gears didn't work.
I guess dyno mode doesn't work on 02's like some other cars?

I was able to test dyno mode on holycaoamg ride and let me tell you it was awesome to experience.

So typically how much should it cost to get a transmission flush.
I know there are two kinds one just fluid and the other drop the pan and replace the fluid and filter.
Been trying to get an answer from dealers and shops and no one is picking up their phone for the past couple days.

Dyno mode is nothing special on any of these cars. It allows complete defeat of the stability control systems that is not possible with the ESP button on the dash and shuts down ABS. It allows your wheels to spin, but doesn't add any power or translate into any real improvement in acceleration. It will allow your tires to lock up under hard braking. It will allow you to spin out of control with no assistance.
That's all it will do. The driving experience is no different than any other time unless you have to slam on the brakes or swerve to avoid something. We've all driven old cars that didn't have ABS or ESP. Well, welcome to dyno mode in the W203.
