need imidiate help!!!

guys something terrible happend while i was working on my car earlier.

im trying to replace my control arm bushings. so i have to remove my stabilizer bar.

heres the problem. i was done replacing the bushings. now im installing the bar and on the passengers side one bolt was so god damn hard to put on. i forced it till half way my 10mm wont bite anymore. i changed to a 9mm it wont fit, i changed to an english equvalent and nada.. do now 1 bolt is hanging.. i went to autozone to ask for help and they showed me 2 tools. 1 was a bolt extractor and the other was a socket kit but it was diff it was like swirly inside. Does anyone know of this tool? and if ou do does it work? By the way that 1 bolt im talking about its really not moving anymore i think i broke the thread also. but i know what to do with that. i just want to know if that swirly tool works to make life easy. i dont want to use a bolt extractor at all. that would be my last ultimate resort.

please help me.

Since the bolt is worthless now anyway why don't you just use vice grips?

Those will work.

I had a similar problem trying to remove one of the bolts for my rear sway bar.

Yes that tool should work. Buy the correct inverted torx socket to install the new one though.

I just had a bolt snap off on top of my valve cover.. I went to home depot and bought a bolt extractor and the correct drill bit..

I Sprayed wd40 around the hole because the whole head snapped off.. Waited 5 mins to drill.. used the extractor and bam came out like cake..

I really was about to cry when it snapped off i really thought i ****ed up but have faith..

Those tools work great but sometimes if they might be hard to reach or real bad they dont work.

Drill works real well, drill in the middle till you basically cut it. If that doesn't work and you have no option then you have to use the "weld way"

Buy this

Mix them together and put it on an Allen wrench wait for it to dry and there you go.

Hope this helps.

Wow great idea i never thought to use JB weld.. To bad my bolt snapped off inside the hole.. I use to mess around with that stuff when i had a go-ped back in the day.. LOL

They also make left sided drill bits that if you drill it slowly it can also come out..

Make sure to buy a center tap don't want that drill to move all around

The one that I use if the head is snapped of is this tool. I don't know the name maybe you guys can help.

It's this weird looking tool. It's this rugged triangle type tool where you drill a hole in the bolt and shove this tool in there and remove the bolt.

Here is a horrible drawing I did loooool

Basically drill a hole in the bolt shove this tool in there and it's rugged so it grips the inner part of the bolt and you twist the bolt out.

Anyone know what this tool is called?

This is mostly if the head is broken off.

Sorry for the horrible drawing I went and took a pic of it. They come in different sizes.

They also call them " easy out "

Just don't take it to the Burbank PepBoys. My dad once took his car and after a while we noticed tire was getting worn (felt like they didn't do alignment) so we went back and they said sorry 60 day warranty.

I never step foot at PepBoys ever again. Look for deals at PepBoys usually they are pretty expensive but when they have deals they have good prices.

Good Luck.

The extractors you don't need to use a drill.. If it gets to tight it will snap off then you will have real problems.

( When using your drill with the drill bit make sure you are drilling extremely slow!!! )

I would also center tap the bolt so you have a nice hole started for your drill bit so its not bouncing all over the place.

Well here's a video you should watch before you a temp this. I watched this about 10 times before i did my job.

And remember - If you end up with damaged threads in the bolt hole - Helicoils work very well - Good luck!

Remember that all suspension related bolts use Locktite Blue. Buy a dealer bolt new and look at the thread. If the bolt is stuborn then gently heat it to loosen the Locktite's grip and it will come right out. Ebay also sells the inverted torx sets that include the tamper proof (hole drilled in the center) inverted torx bits in metric sizes for about 30-40 bucks. If you use a torch to heat the bolt be careful not to burn the surrounding paint. Just a little heat to warm things up is all you need.

i fixed it already. i bought the tool and it worked pretty good but i had to use a torque wrench. replaced the bolts with some really hard *** kind of material from a local hardware shop. i just dipped the whole thing in loctite and let it dry. works pretty good. better than the original bolt.
