Had my instrument cluster replaced

My LCD bit the dust from the heat here already. It started fading out very badly all of a sudden. It would barely be visible when starting the car, and would take a couple of hours to return to full brightness.

Got the dealer to replace it under my CPO warranty. I noticed that the dials when lit were a bit more grey/blue, and that the greens were more grey/green.

I think the current software they uploaded to it changed my mileage screen from "Distance" to "Range"

Other than that, no change but it is very bright.

Does it still show your current millage? Could be a good way to get a brand new car ^_^

Yea, it does show current mileage.

If memory serves me correctly, that information isn't stored in the instrument cluster, but somewhere in the car's ECU???

An instrument cluster has to effectively joined, or "paired" to the car in a Mercedes so that it can function properly. It's not purely mechanical, there's a large computer element to it.

I have heard that correct mileage is saved in the instrument cluster, powerkeyswitch and transmission units?

Then if you change cluster it writes over the highest mileage..
