I have a 02 C240 with AMG Aero II 18 x 8, 225.40 in the front. From what I was told, these rims will not clear the new brake setup. A spacer setup was also discouraged from Luke at Tirerack because he said it would probably rub....
I would really like to keep these rims because I would like to keep a "stock" looking car. Any other ideas or suggestions on how to make this setup with the new brakes and rims work?
Ive been debating about purchasing new rims, Carlsson 2/6 since they look remotely similar to the Aero IIs, but dont really want to fork out more money just because of the brake clearance problem. Does anyone know if these rims or any others that look similar clear the brakes? Any input would be greatly appreciated as I have found that there are not too many rims that fit a C32, and my brake kit is coming soon! =) I've asked our fellow members on the C32 room with not much luck. Thanks again!

What is the offset on your wheels? I dont see why you would have any major problem... that should fit fine but you may need to run maybe a 5mm spacer...

From what I have learned, the AMG Aero II rims do not have enough "backspacing" to clear the brakes. Although offset plays a part in the equation, the amount of the "backspacing" is more important in determining if your rims will clear the brake upgrade. Apparently, the AMG wheels do not have enough of this clearance. I tried to also see if these rims have any applications on the Tirerack car application guide, and it does not...
After talking to Ben, he suggested a spacer may do the trick...
After talking to Luke, he did not recommend spacers for my car because it will cause the tires to rub by changing the offset of the wheel...
Being the case, I am now trying to solve this little problem. Would getting these Aero II rims in a different offset to accommodate the spacers work? Again, I really like these rims and would like to keep this style if possible.
What are the other 20 or so members that are part of the group buy gonna do? =)
Thanks again for your input, I have gained much more insight now about my little car...

Check with Ben at Evosport.com , He can set you up with AMG brakes cheap or go to your local MB dealer, the AMG front brakes are about $900 and if you can get them wholesale they are about $650 in the U.S. If you go with the AMG brakes you will need a minimum of 17" wheels. Good luck!

I got my brake Disk + pads + clipers arround US 350$... its true.. and fixed in any works shop, the setup is same as the standred one but it requierd some carfull because of the sensor but workshops who works with MB knows about that already because its not new things and not first time they changes the brake...
The diffrence is so big between the stock and AMG.. it looks more more more beautifull and sportly the AMK brack..
if you need more infos glade to help you..

I belive my Brabus were 35offset. I dont remember too well but that should be right and they cleared the AMG brakes. But also, you have to take into conseration the curve of the spoke, some wheels are just shaped differently but if they are made for big brakes they usually can clear it.

AMG Brake Upgrade!
Finally got my brakes upgraded last night. My technician hooked it up in 1.5 hours. He's the Beast. I also got the Porterfield R4-S carbon kevlar pads. I've only had them on for 12 hours now but no squeek at all. I used to have porterfields on my stock brake system too. I highly recommend them!~

You're makin' me cry!
One of my rotors was damaged in shipping, so mine are sitting on the garage floor right now until I can get it replaced. Looks good behind those wheels! I figure I'd better clean the backs of my C7's real good, because I'll never see them again with the new brakes on.

Out Of Control!!
Does anyone have any before and after GTech #s or anything other than butt brake dyno feelings?
If the only real improvement's to fading in racing/very heavy driving apps, then I'd have a tough time doing the swap, if I can get the same basic results with ss lines and better pads on oem.
Of course, then I'd have to make my C7s my winter rims, and be forced to buy the 18" rims that I've been eyeing. At least, that's how my rationalization goes.
