Is 80K miles too much?

No timing belts on Mercs. Timing Chains! - Timing belts suck. No standard V belts either - only the Poly V belt.

Er...Carmax is showing 27 white W203s (both 230 and 320s)
High of 24,998, 2007 with 21K miles,
Highest mileage is 54K, lowest is the 21K. They have an 11K listed, but it is not actually white.
Low price is 18,748 (several) one a 2006 with 39K for mileage. Of course they will transfer them close to you for a price. Now, is the 13K for the 80K mile car a deal...that's for you to decide Just don't do it only because you can't find white.

I think thats the price is too high for that mileage. Check this one out on craigslist with 28366 miles. A little bit more in price but I'd take this over the one u found. It's in Fremont CA though.

This just reminds me of how much these cars have gone down in price value. I bought mine in August 2007 with 18k miles for $23k which was pretty damn good at the time.

It took MB a few years to get the M271 4 banger sorted out.
2005 is a good year. Many many updates..
The previous years had issues with carbon building up on the valves frying the valves
and resulting in expensive repairs.
Part of the attraction for me in 2002 for the coupe, was the fact that engine had a long
and good track record.
If you go with a 2006, you're starting again, with an unproven engine, 1st year 6 banger, and the 1st year (correct me if I'm wrong) for the 7 speed.
The 5 speed is pretty bullet proof if you flush the fluid from time to time.
According to the document below, the 7 speed gets a 3% fuel economy improvement.
Big deal. People with that tranny in 2006 have had lots of problems with clunky shifting that requies
replacing the valve body, something the dealers won't generally. It needs fluid changes like every 35K miles to run smooth.
Either that or go with a 6 speed.
I uploaded a nice booklet from MB click here! that explains the updates they made in 2005.

The 2.5 six is not really new. Old & proven design - only changes are minor capacity & 4 valve heads which have proven fine. The 7G is new.
