what should set your alarm off....

i just read on mbnz.org that someone parked their car in NY and when they came back, his car was on cinder blocks and the alarm hadn't gone off.

i guess my question is if anyone know what movements/motions apart from breaking a window will set the alarm off.

The switch on the dash (anti towing) is used to set the alarm for movement of the car. Sounds like that guy didn't use it. I rarely do.

i read that and it kinda sucked b/c his wheels cost bookoo bucks! not quite sure how it happened either. it was in a lot and the lot guy said he didn't see anything.

did you notice someone posted, 'kinda funny that you were thinking about selling the car, and this just happens.'

It's my understanding from both the manual and the dealer that the switch is used to disable the anti tow feature when the car is going to be trucked or towed. The feature is always on otherwise. It's not something that you have to manually set.

I'm not sure if the anti-tow alarm feature is sensitive enough to detect the low rise from removing a tire. It might be worth testing one day. This is, though, why they sell wheel locks. If you really are concerned, get several sets, leave the master keys at home, then call MB road service when you get a flat (as someone previously pointed out, they carry master keys for all the MB wheel locks).

LOL. The first thing I did was get wheel locks. The MB alarm system does not have any shock sensors but you might be able to put them in. After market companies make sensors that can integrate with exsisting factory alarms. I heard it is not that expensive.
