Just bought the fluid, filter, gasket, bolts, and standoff pipe. My service is due sometime next month. I now have a STAR system, so I will show how to use that to check level as well. I will probably video tape it as well. Stay tuned.

John - if your service is due next month, does this mean you'll be at 74,000? You're catching me up! Drats! (81,115 here).

Close, I'll be at 72K. I am at just under 70K now. I did the 1st service at 36K, and am going to do the service every 36K, as is the recommended ROW service interval that Glyn mentioned to me. 60KM is the recommended, which is just over 36K miles.

1st part of next month, I will take a 1K mile trip.

Where did you get the STAR? ones I was looking for but in turn out to be a bit expansive , $7500 I guess was for used one, and the prices were going to 15000 and more. probably ones from china some where around $1000 .
Any way, waiting, how much fluid did you buy, and will you follow the process described earlier on this tread?

I bought one of the Chinese clone multiplexer and cables from Ebay for $550, and installed the software using the install guides from JCRecordings.com A real full blown STAR system from MB will set you back $25K. Obviously out of the question for a shadetree mechanic. The clone system does what I need to for a fraction of the price. If I owned a shop or made a living from the system, I would buck up and buy the real thing.

Bought 2ea 4L bottles of ATF here: http://www.rmeuropean.com/Part-Numbe..._F84D7082.aspx

Yes, I will follow the process I described earlier which is possible w/o a STAR system. I will also add the fluid check procedure for people that have access to STAR.

I was looking for a 722.6(for may C230) and found this DIY https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ion-flush.html, , just thought may be interesting, and that he used 10L of oil.

Yes, I have seen that. A flush was a great idea in his case, because the fluid looked like crap. In my case since I did the 1st service at 36K, and going to continue every 36K, a flush is not necessary IMO. Flushes are usually done when people let regular transmission service go to long. A flush can be done the same way on the 7G, but would be even more of a PITA since there is no fill tube and has to be filled from pan drain plug. You also waste a LOT of fluid doing a flush.

That what I am considering to do, last transmissions service the dealer could find was done at 39K so I will do a complete flush, because I have 106K now. TITAN meet the spec but I was going with Genuine mercedes do you think it's a big difference? where titan is made?

It's never been done on my C230K at 81,150 miles. It's on my have-done list (not my to-do since I am not mechanically inclined).

The transmission service is worth every penny. It's a shame how many people neglect it for so long.

For some weird reason when I say tranny it reminds me of Mike

The Fuchs Titan 4134 ATF IS the OEM fluid, so no sense paying more for the bottled labeled for MB. Plus the 4L jugs are more economical.

Yep, in this thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/3668015-post34.html That is a general DIY. I will have a full blown DIY posted next month. Yes, I change my buddy's fluid in his 2007 W203.

Does this oil can be used on the 722.6(5-speed) tranny? I think I read that it works...
I could get it, 12qt. for $185 shipped from rmeuropean, the 722.6 spec(mercedes) its around $235.

And my stealership want $25/qt.... + tax $320

Mine's @74k, this week i'm going to buy the oil for a completely flush.

Absolutely, the new spec 236.14 is backward compatible to the 722.6 5-speed transmission.

I did the full flush at 120K.
My tranny was clunking and shifting like crap.
New Fluid and filter fixed up like new.
I'm at 153K now, and the problem has not returned.
I'm going to flush it again sometime soon....like within the next 10K miles.
just for good measure.

On this forum, it seems the experience from those who have done the full flush is generally a good one, resolves problems.

If it blew up after flushing, likely it was because the correct materials must be used,
and our tranny's have very special fluid specific to Mercedes 5 & 7 speed trannies.

Be sure to replace the orings, order one of these...

I would like to think that a full flush is always good, but after have both techs and people post the above, I'm not too certain either way. I would imagine just do it at the right interval and it's not a problem.
