'06 C230 engine
ummm, so i have been browsing around the net for some upgrades and had noticed that this engine is like a ugly duckling in MB family? or am i wrong? Is it me or there totally no relation to the 240, 280 and 320 engine family? Then i noticed this engine is only in 06-07 models years, nowhere else. Besides drop in K&Ns and universal do it yourself "cat-back" exhaust , is there anything else out there to make it open up and move? im trying to help it with some weight reduction ( so far found and exchanged some stuff to help me loose about 150lbs give/take) and im hoping to find another 50lbs somewhere. I have the car for about 2 weeks now, ride is really great on the highway , but coming from E46 M3 and R56 heavily modded coopers S, im sorry to say , but theres no comparisson to these two mentioned cars. Does anybody makes any pulleys, ECU software for it ? I was eyeing to make a custom air intake for it, but my buddy ( ex. e430 owner ) told me that these mafs dont like big intakes, what gives? Help is appriciated before i really go out and custom on it , LOL.
PS: what is the code for this engine anyway, M272?

It's the 2.5L M272.
This stuff has been discussed over and over again, please search the forum about this. To even imply that there SHOULD be some comparison between a W203 C230 and an E46 M3 is absurd. If that kind of performance is what you are looking for, you bought the wrong car.
You might need to make the most modifications to your expectations. It's a small V6 with 200hp.
That said - Welcome to the forums. The W203 is a fine car!

As a fellow '06 W203 C230 SS owner, I can speak to some of the engine's finer and, well, less fine points.
I must reiterate many of the points brought forth by LilBenz - to compare the 2.5L V6-powered C230 to an M3 is apples & oranges to an extent. The C230, particularly the '06-07 naturally aspirated formats (thus why you won't find a pulley upgrade for yours ), are not intended to be rubber melting, fire breathing roughnecks. They're smooth, elegant, and "sporty". The E46 M3 and "tuned" Mini are of a much different flavor, and particularly, purpose. This isn't to say that the 2.5L-powered W203's can't be fun and enjoyable, they just won't be doing it melting any pavement. Do a quick search and perhaps you'll find some modification that may not put you in a 12-second 1/4 mile vehicle, but accentuate the finer points your W203 has to offer.
If you intended to enter the Mercedes-Benz family with the desire of having a bit more performance-poised vehicle, the slightly more brutish C32 or C55 models may have been more your "speed" (pun intended ).

These are enjoyable and rewarding cars to own and operate. The C230 doesn't have much in terms of power but it makes up for it in so many ways.

if i wanted to drive an automatic V8, i would ended up getting something domestic, please post your enthusiastic replies somewhere else. I Dont like american cars and i dont like automatics, simply put i want to exert as much power from my little V6 as possible and id like to have while i am doing just that. How is automatic much more entertaining????becasue you get to use one pedal ? ohhh wait , i forgot , maybe you can play Aerton Sienna and flip flop the steering wheel mounted wings, uhhhhh, thats FUN, NOT!!!!!!!!

You new guys crack me up. You refuse to use the search function, start a new thread on a topic that has been pounded to death, imply that you could afford a C55 but bought a C230 for its manual transmission - and expect to be taken seriously?
So here's my enthusiastic response:
1. You bought the wrong car.
2. USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION.

anyway , going back to topic.....basically Klemmann is the only tuner that has the most parts for our cars. As far as family engine, is this unit derived from some other Benz? or is it something new in a line up ?

I think the car is riot - and it gets a lot of attention when it's parked. What's important, anyway? I've quit feeling sorry for myself because it is relatively slow, and just downshift and floor it to cut in front of people on the freeway. I do it whenever I'm feeling down.

A ECU tune will do wonders bro. There's companies like Powerchip and Speed Innovations, and you'll get around 20hp/18tq from that alone. If you get a custom tune from a shop you can get even more. Most of the engine bits from the C240 will fit on our cars. I was told the headers from Supersprint and any catback exhaust available for the C240 will bolt on. There is also a company on this site (AMS?) who sell pullies for our car. Only gives about 7/8hp but I hear you feel it throughout the powerband.

I love my 350 but if it was manual then I would love it even more.
Not a lot of 350 manuals. Lucky to find 1 or 2
