Help! Left tire rubbing against wheel well
i recently upgraded to 18" rims on my 2001 c240. After the upgrade from the stock rims i noticed over bumps i was hearing a noise coming from the left rear side. turns out that the tire is rubbing against the wheel well on bumps. this is also made extremely worse with extra weight in the car. I put 3 people in the car and noticed the ride height in the rear lower. Is this problem due to the coil springs or the shocks, or do i have to replace both?
My car rubs the left as well (only when I hit big dips) and I dont even have anything in the trunk. I think everyone has a little tire rib left or right. It's always one side.
Your best bet would be to roll the fenders.

What are the offsets of the wheels? We can't help you unless you provide more info. Just because a wheel has the correct bolt pattern, doesn't mean the offset (how far in/out the wheel is) is correct!
A ghetto way to check what you're hitting is to put some ghetto cheap (washable) paint along the sides of your wheel, bump it a few times, then see where the paint smeared. Then decide what you would like to do to rectify the problem.

Ya man, if you provide wheel size then we can help you better. rubbing on 18's that's pretty unique. Like I said I have 19" and I hardly rub. Only when there's 4 peeps and I hit big dips.
This might help if you don't know your tire size.

those arent wheel specs. do you not know what the sizes are? like are they 18x8.5? the information should be on the inside of the wheel. the offset should also be on the rear, its should say et with a number like et 35 or something like that. Since they are custom wheels I would hope you would know the specs of the wheels, or did you just pick them up from someone. also spacers go by mm usually so the spacers might be 10mm or 5mm.
in the last pic of your car it looks like you're fronts and rears should be switched but I cant tell since I dont know the specs of the wheels you have on there. But it looks like you're fronts offset is pretty low since you have so much wheel poke.

You might have to sell those wheels and get different ones. But looking at the pics, it looks like you should clear the brakes since you don't have the larger brakes. But if you need larger spacers its going to make the front stick out too much and make it look bad. You'd have to really roll and pull the fender to get the wheels back under the fender. Make sure the wheel is rubbing the caliper and not the lug bolts being too long and grinding the braking system.

Hi yes it's grinding on the calipers I saw the marks on the inside of the alloys
spacers come in mm you need to look in mm not inches... measure your spacer and convert it to mm thats going to be your best solution to find what spacer you need. most spacers come in 3,5,8,10,12,15,20,25mm... they make custom ones but you'll have to look around. H&R make spacers for our cars and when looking for a spacer you need to makes sure they are hubcentric and make sure you buy new lug bolts to accommodate the new spacer

Hi again the 6mm are rubbing slightly on the front if I goto 8mm do I need to goto larger bolts nuts which are oem at the moment or should I just goto 10mm on the front for the spacers ? The wheels are the same front and rear offset so don't think switching will help
Make sure the poem bolts aren't too long. They should do 6 full rotations from beginning of threading to it being tightened. If you have too much them your bolts are rubbing.
If you go with 8 you won't need new bolts but if you go with 10mm you will.
Can you take a front view of the car from straight on to see how much the wheels poke out from the frame. Because looking at the side view it looks like quite a bit.
