Difference between A0031532728 and A0031532828
I am new here. Would like some advice regarding two part numbers.
I recently got a W203 C180 sedan and for a couple of days now the engine stalls after I drive for a while. The local stealership crankshaft position sensor was defective and replaced it. The agent said the part number was A0031532728.
After coming home, I looked at the old records and I see that less than 2 yrs ago a part with the same descrition was changed. As replacement parts have a 2yr warranty I called back the stealership and he gave me a story about there being a 'front' and 'rear' CPS with the part numbers A0031532828 and A0031532728.
I don't trust what he says. My research on the net seems to suggest that they are the same part or slightly different parts used interchangeably.
Would anyone be able to help me with this?
Thanks a lot

+1^. Superceded part. Tell your dealer to stop BS'ing. There is only a rear CPS. Or find a dealer that knows what they are talking about. Yes ~ I know you have little choice. I have spent lots of time in beautiful Sri Lanka with Caltex/Lanka Lubricants.
Ancient thread but someone might look in.

Someone just did...thanks Benz-Bros. My '07 G500 (100K mi) refuses to start when its hot, good thing i don't live anywhere hot (Houston, TX).
EPC says same part as well, just new part number. Probably means you could use both part numbers. It may be that the new part replaced the old one due to a defective material/construction/etc. So therefore, when you replace your sensor, you need to hunt down a ..28 28 and stay clear of 27 28.

"27 28" & "28 28" are the same CPS part #,,
A) MB part # of "003 153 27 28" refers to "Bosch" # "0 261 210 170", [still available as "Bosch"]
B) MB part # of "003 153 28 28" refers to "DB/Temic" # : "0 11 323 018", [No longer available, have to get it as "OEM"]

Update: Purchased part# 003 153 28 28 from eBay ($15) with MB logo printed on it. Replaced the sensor yesterday in blazing Houston heat and took it for a test drive to get it nice and hot ( = operating temperature). Before the replacement my engine would not restart when hot and just crank. After my test drive yesterday, it would restart with no problems. Will have to see if this indeed fixed the problem but at this point it looks like a $15 fix did the trick. Very pleased if this is indeed the case.
