Steering wheel audio controls & Audio 10 CD

My car has been at the dealership for a few days and the tech is having difficulty re-configuring the steering wheel mounted audio controls. The Star Diag system will not recognize the steering wheel mounted controls. I assumed it would be an easy part to replace and would not need to be setup. The problem he is trying to resolve is the -/+ buttons acting like the up/down buttons. This means I have no -/+ controls and both sides do the same function. They replaced these buttons due to cracking. I have the Audio 10 CD. Has anyone heard of this problem?

I can't imagine that the Audio 10 has anything to do with the malfunctioning buttons, as it's only set to receive a signal over the D2B fiber loop.

It sounds like it may be a defective -/+ button assembly. Everything was fine until it was replaced. Thanks for the input.

The problem was a defective -/+ button assembly from MB. It has been replaced and everything is fine. My dealer even delivered the car to my house. I drove their 2002 E320 4Matic for 7 days and 965 miles.

Not bad at all. I had a 03 Coupe loaner for 5 days and ended up putting 700+ miles on it

Tell the tech to swap out the new unit, and reinstall the old one. If the old one functions incorrectly, he botched the setup.

The stereo headunit is connected to the steering wheel controls by the CANBUS, not the D2B firber optic loop.

Is Canbus related to a Cannibal? If so maybe that is the problem...
