Ordering C230 very soon, need help.
I like to know what is the fair price I should offer the dealer?
I'm in Socal.
I got this pricing break down from Edmunds.
Invoice MSRP
===========================
C230 $23,204 $24,950
Dest. $645 $645
C7 $698 $750
Bose $567 $610
C2 $925 $995
==============================
total $26,039 $27,950
I'm thinking of $27,000 before tax & lic??
What do you guys think?
Thanks,
There have been numerous posts from people that have purchased C230s. Conclusion is that some dealers are not willing to deal, and some are not. There are a lot of posters from S. Cal, so I would take some time, and read through some of the posts.
$27.5 with CD changer and $27 w/o...
Where you guys find the pricing for cd changer??
I can't see it on Edmunds..
http://www.edmunds.com/new/2002/merc...tml?id=lin0016
It only listed a changer+phone option for ~$1800...
Lynn,
I'm ordering WHITE... I've seen photos and the car itself
with that color... I like it the best..

Advertising Charges:
Most vehicle invoices include a legitimate advertising fee levied by either the manufacturer or regional dealer groups. Ad fees can range from less than 1 percent of the vehicle's MSRP to more than 3 percent, depending on region. Metropolitan-area dealers are more likely to charge higher advertising fees than rural dealers. When you comparison shop for a car, be sure to ask the dealers how much the advertising charge is on the vehicle.
It is $300 in our region, the cd changer in a dealer installed option $549.00 cost of the parts not includeding install 2 hr on a C-class.
I would offer MSRP and cost on the CD changer, thats a fair price. Oh and make sure you tip the sales person if they do a good job. There services may be invaluable some day.
I was dreaming of the perfect buyer LOL I sell Mercedes I wish all customers were like that though.

Of course they will counter your offer. Make sure ask for a itemized list of the options and chargers, otherwise you will lost during the negotiation. I got mine from Laguna Niguel, the dealt with Paul Brown which he was the internet/fleet manger. Pretty much got the deal done on the phone before I drove down there. Didn't have to deal with the salesperson running back and forth with the manager thing.
I am still debating if it is worth the extra 700 bucks..
Do you mind tell me how much you got it for out of door or
before tax?
thanks,
including jo-jack ($495) installed, CD Changer installed, tax, license fee, document fee.
If I had a stronger mind to walk, probably could have him offset the $400 advertising fee with other discount. But it was 3 days before christmas and I want my christmas present...
I made a mistake/omission when I bought my c230 and it cost me $500 (well, I paid $500 more than I expected). I didn't understand (or pay close enough attention) to Dr Mike's advice/direction when he said how he got his deal. I went (via e-mail) to Dr Mike's salesman/dealership and I asked for 3% over invoice. They said OK. I thought I was then going to get it for $1,100 off the list price.
But, when Dr Mike made his deal he told them that the 3% price he came up with was the final price he wanted to pay (plus tax and registration) and he wanted it in writing. I did not do so as I stupidly thought the 3% over invoice would be my final price and I'd get the same deal he did. They faxed me their standard purchase sheet/contract showing 'sell price is 3% over invoice' but no actual prices. The salesman had said that the shipping might be going up and I'd have to pay that if it did. Over on the right side is showed a $250 'converyance fee' which they 'need' to reimburse them for their time and effort to register the car to write up thr paperwork.
I again thought I'd get Dr Mike's deal so i didn;t worry about it.
When the car came in and I finally got them to fax me the price, the invoice now showed a $200 IRG Participation Fee (the infamouse 'advertizing fee'). Since they were able to stick that on the invoice, I had no choice but to pay it or walk away. They also charged me the $250 conveyance fee, which was in plain sight on their form, but which I ***umed I would not be paying. The delivery charge went to $665, $20 more than before. so my total included an extra $470 than I had not planned on. Since they were legally correct, I could only accept it or walk. I was still getting more than $500 off so I took it. My local dealer wouldn't budge off list and would of taken forever to get me car.
I didn't want the CD palyer, but other who paid full list and got the CD player thrown in got a better deal, especially if they did not pay any BS fees.
So, be carefull out there among the sharks, and get the final price in writing.
I have listened to both the standard and Bose upgrade. I am impressed with the standard sound system. I am not too picky about the sound system and I seldom crank up the volume so I didn't get the sound upgrade.
Originally I was looking for a 6 speed with C7 and C5, then I don't mind having the sound upgrade included. But the dealer couldn't find the exactly options that I want so I went with C2 and C7 instead. Saved some money.
Maybe I will get aftermarket leather seats later, I read about it somewhere, does anyone know a shop in LA area that does aftermarket leather seats?
My car came with leather, but for I while I thought it might show up with cloth. I would have taken it the the local Classic Soft Trim store.
