I hope you searched the forum before you posted this question, but since I just changed my rotors and pads, and found that the search function doesn't work as good as it used to, I will help you out.

What year & model is your car?

And are you looking for cross-drilled/slotted rotors? or just an OEM type replacement?

I have a 2005 C230k lowered on tein basics
From a previous thread.

You want OEM? For OEM go to getmercedesparts.com

I don't mess with anything other than OEM (a wise man from this forum told me nothing beats OEM) unless your gonna use your car for drag or something.

Good info on this page

Just did this....
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...pads-pics.html

EBC is a British company....
their standard rotors are quite inexpensive.

I'd stay away from 'Centric' stuff.
Just my opinion, I don't feel like putting Chinese parts on a german car.
From what I can tell, R1 Concepts uses Centric rotors as a base before adding grooves, etc.
based on a telephone conversation I had with a rep.
So for me, that was out.

Definately go with Ceramic pads...
Akebono's are great and about the same price as normal pads, but last 3x as long.

For an 05 C230, the OEM rotors would be a good choice, or certain aftermarket brands. There are many mail order companies that you can order these from, from what I remember OEM usually run $115 a piece for the front rotors, and like $50-70 a piece for the rear. rmeuropean and rockauto are the 2 companies I order most of my stuff from.

I don't agree that the R1 Concepts/Centric rotors are junk as C230 Sport Coupe states. Yes, R1 Concepts takes Centric rotors, cross drill and/or slots them, and sells them. IMO, Centric makes good quality OE style rotors. Centric does not market the rotors as tuner/performance rotors, but as OE replacements. They own Powerslot, which is their performance division. My mechanic that I trust 10000x times more than the stealership (he is my neighbor, owns a large reputable auto repair shop and has 20 years of experience) uses Centric rotors as OE replacements for most of the brake jobs in his shop. He says they last longer and warp less than most OEM rotors. I have the R1 Concepts rotors on my car and have had no problem. People on this forum and others have been happy with the R1 Concepts rotors.

EBC also makes high quality rotors, but the only thing I don't like is that they are a little expensive, and I don't care for the goldish/bronze color of the rotors.

Akebono ceramic brake pads would also be a good choice. They last longer than OEM and also dust less than OEM pads. They do run at a hotter temperature, so make sure they are matched with cross drilled and/or slotted rotors. On my 2004, which doesn't have OEM cross drilled rotors, brand new OEM Mercedes rotors warped after 56,000 miles with the ceramic pads.

go with R1...I got drilled rotors for front and back (you can't slot them for c230 sport)...got ceramics for front and akebono ceramics for rear...also go steel brake lines to increase brake feel and eliminate flex...install was relatively easy for someone who has never done it before...however I also used a lift at my buddy's shop and had help with the manual labor part (ie unbolting wheels, calipers brake lines, etc.) R1 is good quality and works great so far! they also sell the posi-quiet at there website as well

I bought the same rotors from the same site as you did. I bought genuine OEM pads. Took them all of, I dunno, 3000 miles to develop a shudder. I am not a happy camper about that.

People say "oh you didn't break them in" or other driver-related factor as to why they were so quickly heat damaged. That's BS. The car had brakes at 27,000 miles where just the pads were replaced and the original rotors lasted 53,000 miles and 2 sets of pads before they had any shudder. My driving habits haven't changed so I can't see how I manage to make one set of pads and old rotors last 26k miles without issue and the next doesn't make it 3k.

As you can probably tell, I'm pretty pissed off about the Balo rotors. Hope you have better luck.

Let me know how it works for you. I put them on my car at 53,500 miles and today stand at 59,400. They've had a shudder since 56,000 or so. I begrudgingly live with it (though it drives me nuts) because I cannot justify more brake work so soon.

Edit: On second though, since it is annoying me so much - I'm gonna go out tonight and do the bed-in procedure. Again. If I ruin them, oh well, they suck anyway.

I wish I knew you could have hooked up a discount before I ordered them 2 weeks ago. Oh well, they were pretty cheap anyways.

Does anyone know if the "Premium" R1 Rotors are worth the extra $ over their E-line?

^ Some of the parts I'm selling *may* fit the 2005 Sport (ie non-4matic) models. Please be sure to verify first. The part #s are in that link; compare them with the dealer.

Our cars are pretty close in mileage. I looked earlier and I'm actually at 59,355. I've put nearly 35,000 on it since last July. I love it. Hate the brakes right now, though.

I wondered the same thing however in the end i figured we dont have enough power in our vehicles to justify needing extreme performance brake products or spending that much money...the e-line works just fine and looks great and after all after 2 weeks it'll look the same as OEM...
