which benz to purchase????
Hi guys,
I am a former BMW owner and I have switched over!...hahaha....so I am now a member on here instead of the "bimmerforums"...
I am deciding between two c230s.....here goes
1. 2003, Silver, leather interior, 17 inch rims, 83,000 kms, NO sunroof, no warranty, from a dealer
2. 2003, Black, cloth interior, 16 inch rims (extra set of rubber), 120,000kms, panaramic sunroof, 4 years warranty (FULL coverage with wear and tear), in private
Both are the same price.....what do you guys think??....I'm leaning toward black because I like the sunroof and the 4 year warranty.....
but i'm missing out on leather interior and less kms?......
help!!!...opinions!!...?????

if those were my only two options... i would go with the full warranty. i drive an 2003 and had to replace my entire supercharger underwarranty (thank god).
the m271 engine can be high maintenance, but once all the bugs are fixed its a solid car. take the one with warranty!

Thanks for the reply......yeah thats my fear, expenses expenses expenses!...
My dad has a 1997 c230 and had no warranty and never had any problems aside from the )2 sensor going on him and some bulbs.........so he is the one telling me to go for silver with no warranty..........
any more opinions guys?.........

Oh holy Jesus DO NOT buy the one without the warranty.
2003 was the first year of the M271 in the C230 and those cars have been prone to some massively expensive head issues.
Lastly, you cannot compare the 1997 experience to the 2003 experience. It was a different time in Mercedes-land in the 1990s... a time of less cost-and-corner cutting.

Those are the types of responses I was looking at......seems like its almost unanamous.........I'm test driving the black one tonight!....woohoo!.........
Any more suggestions guys....please pour them in.....thats why I'm on the forums (to get opinions from experienced owners)............

4 year warranty. It has roughly 74,600 miles. Is there a mileage limitation to this warranty? If it's 4yr/100k and you drive a lot, I'd pass on both cars. The head issue with the early M271 engines is a repair that can cost in the thousands depending on what needs to be done.

I normally think extended warranties are a waste, not here, 2003 had some major issues that each one in itself can costs several thousand to fix.
