Good news. The ticking and clicking and tapping and all this whatnot is nothing serious. It's indeed just a noisy purge valve vibrating other components making it sound like the sound is coming from the passenger side of the front dash. Insulation was put around the purge valve, the purge valve ticking was isolated so it won't spread to the dash, and overall, the sound is decreased dramatically.
Thanks for EVERYBODY'S help! I'm very grateful for everyone on this board!

My pleasure. Maybe you could diy with some felt and extra insulation/cable ties (that's what he ran by me in terms of what materials he'd be using). I'll ask what exactly he did tomorrow, also. I'm positive we're not the only ones with one hella noisy purge valve.
P.S. I love your sig, jturkel. lol where's it from?

Good news indeed - thanks for the feedback - so many members just go quiet. I wonder when my purge valve is going to start clicking?

Well if you had an extended warranty, my guess is that your purge valve will start clicking within 24-hours of your extended warranty ending.
Just messing around!

I let you down not!
Here it is!

Seems to just be some adhesive felt padding under the purge valve mount. The clicking is pretty much gone, though I have to have the wires placed perfectly to achieve this. I plan on using zip ties like some of the other's have, I just have to find a picture explaining how, or I could put some time aside to just experiment. Either or.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the pics. I understand there is a redesigned mount. But that looks simple enough.

What causes purge valves to click? Pardon my ignorance on the matter. I don't have the clicking on my C230 but I've had cars in the past that did it and where it was pointed out to be the purge valve.

"Replaced the mounting clip bracket for purge valve lines with new clip to quiet sound." 001-995-56-65 'clamp' (looks the same as the one in laneshift pic) The purge valve is rubber mounted but if you put your finger on it when it's operating you can feel the pulses. Move it around while operating and the noise gets louder in certain positions. It sounds like a metal on metal valve.

All 2002's have the improvised bracket incorporated. I did achieve an on/off SILENT ride, due to the wires being in their sweet-spot, but I took a hard left and they moved :/
Back to experimenting.

Sure, if you force it. It's shock mounted, not flexible mounted. I don't know that tying them together is bad though because there is some play in the one that goes to the motor. You'd think it would have been a no brainer to make that white clip more substantial if they wanted to immobilize it though. I dunno, glad it works for you.

REVISION
The previous fix has proven to me during my joy-ride through the winds of country road that the clicking still comes back when I turn a hard left.
Now, through my day of experimenting-
NOISY PURGE VALVE CULPRIT- THE WIRES.
They pulsate and vibrate, hitting each other and creating the clicking/helicopter noise. Therefore, people and/or dealerships usually try to isolate the two wires. Frankly, that white plastic holder just doesn't cut it. (Picture 1.)
When the wires hit each other, you have another choice. Bind them together and they cannot hit each other, either. Here's where my revision comes in. My first fix left the white piece in there and used cushioning, but after my drive, I found much of it was un-useful. ALL that's needed is one cable tie (zip tie)! Bind them together where they're parallel. This has survived my brief drive through my neighborhood, quietly. Not enough winds here, though. I will report back with the results. I'm heading towards the country lanes in about 5 minutes![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)

I wondered what you were talking about with the "wires"....those are not wires, they're tubing. They wouldn't make a clicking noise hitting each other....I think both are plastic. I think the real fix is an inline damper to absorb the oscillations. Keep us posted on your efforts, I'm very curious. Thanks.

Someone else had called them wires, so I did, too. My fault! The tubes are plastic, yes, but when I used my hand to tap the moveable tube against the solid tube, it sounded like a very toned down version of what you'd hear in the car before doing anything to the tubes at all.
I was only able to do a quicker lap throughtout the neighborhood. The country road is a bit too far to travel to at this time, but I use that road to get to tomorrow's destination, so I figure I'll post specifics tomorrow. It's still a quiet ride at the moment.
Stay tuned!
