i think on the 135i vs 335i argument. Since the pricing between the two is within a few thousand...i would rather pay an extra 1-2k and get the utility of having a back seat with the 335i.

To the original posters question. I would suggest a 6sp manual 996 base 911. You can buy them on the use market for $24-32k. Its a well balanced car with decent power. The porsche shifter, shifts like butter. When you drive it, it reminds you of how the germans got there reputation of precision and quality.

If your willing to spend a little more you can get a 996 911 turbo for around $45k. Thats the next car i'm trying to save for.

that's somewhat true.

the E90/92 M3 only has 296lb-ft of torque, but it's gearing is absolutely perfect.

How important is gearing? Gearing nearly makes torque obsolete. Yes, it's that important. In a perfect environment with no limiting factors such as size and weight, the actual peak torque output of an engine would be totally meaningless because of gearing.

How's that possible? It's simple. Gearing multiplies peak torque to the wheels to any amount desired. Increasing the ratio increases torque.

The limiting factors are the biggest problem with this ideal setup. Torque is multiplied through gear ratios, but the higher the gear ratio, the larger the gear and the more space it takes up. Unfortunately, in the real world, there's only so much space for a gear to occupy. It's this space limit that contributes to the "torque = towing capacity" philosophy. If space were unlimited and we could make the ratios anything we wanted, then towing capacity would be limitless since we could easily just utilize a higher ratio gear.

That's why you replace it with the zele body kit! I don't like the front bumper or the rear bumper but the shape, body, and stance of this car is amazing! It almost looks like a wide body. It's just an extremely aggressive look to me that I can't go without noticing. And it's a coupe! Ive always liked the 350z's but they were never aggressive enough for me...but these 370's woooo!

370z over the 135i or Z4 - personally, those 2 just remind me of chick cars. The 335i coupe, old M3 or C55 over all three though...

My first choice was c55 but I figured if I am going to buy a new car I want to at least get a different car. Only thing with the old M3 is it is kinda of played out. But that was my 2nd choice then I realized I wanted something new. Then the 335i came along and I can honestly say I don't have an excuse for this car. I love it myself but I really just want to give a Japanese car a go. I already have my euro

And the comment about the 135i and z4 being a chick car...haha i didn't want to say anything but since you brought the cat out of the bag...

If you have to have a Japanese coupe, there is one alternative if you want to be different. The NSX is now in the affordable range, and it's certainly unique, and definitely not a chick car.

facelifted versions are still expensive. lol The more affordable ones I've seen are pre-95s. it's a great car, but with the package and technology 370Z offer for the similar money. It's hard to not swing for the brand new car.

I totally agree with you in that regard - for me, the NSX would be more of an emotional purchase than a purely numbers, performance, and dollars one - I just think that they're cool cars in general. Like my lust for 2002tii and 3.0CSi Bimmers; I know that there are "better" cars out there that can run laps around them, but I still want them in my driveway.

I'd take the facelifted one over the 370z any day. the old flip up headlight would be a hard sell for me to take the nsx over the Z34.

Ferreal! NSX's are siiick but like frank said for the ones in my price range I just can't see myself choosing and NSX over the Z. As far as numbers, performance, dollars goes...I don't think anyone can argue that the 370z is a bad choice, which is why I am making it my first choice. If I decided to go the cheap route then I will be picking up something I am surprised nobody has mentioned. The infamous Mazda RX-7 (it won't be a daily so relax!)

If I had the money right this instant. a guy in walnut is selling his for 26K with (i think) 450HP with veilside body kit, remarkable paint job, rotora BBK and gramlight 17" wheels.

that's a nice RX7 except I'd take the sound system out and leave it stock.

With the same powertrain as the 335i, not sure why the 135i would be the "chick car" but the 335i wouldn't be.

Chick car = VW Beetle
Go-Kart = 135i

will not attempt to run a GT500 tho. LOL

back to your topic, Z4 vs 370Z. Z4 is great if you get the 35i, but value wise can't beat the 370Z for overall package for money spent.

I've looked at the STi and the EVO X closely...other than performance and looks. The EVO X is really crappy in terms of quality. the STi feels 10x better built in every respect from the moment you pull the door handle to feeling the texture of the dash board etc. IMO.

edit: spelled moment with money...lol

I don't know. I just don't feel any soul in the Evos, and STi's. The STi more than the evo like Frank stated but still they aren't something I can see myself having pride in. These cars are just light weight, with a good engine and factory turbo. Evo's get off the line but their gear ratio on a highway is very poor.

I also just can't convince myself that a sedan will give me the same sporty feel as a coupe. All these things mixed with the fact that almost every 18 year old kid who's parent's could afford the EVO or STI has one.
