I get a clicking noise when I turn my 2002 C320 ignition on . It seems to be coming from the lower floorboard near the firewall on the passenger's side but it's hard to tell. Anyway, it goes through a series of 8 clicks that are 5.5 seconds apart until it finally stops after about 40 seconds. From that point on it doesn't repeat until I turn off the engine, and wait awhile. If I turn off the key early before it goes through it's 8 clicks, the clicking continues through it's 8 time cycle with the ignition off.
Other than the obvious clicking sounds, the car seems to run fine and from what I can tell everything functions properly. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know what's wrong? Any input would help.
