ok, sounds good. i will do so immediately. thanks a lot for everyones help. when i get it replaced i will let you all know for sure if that fixed it or not. i really feel like it will do the trick. should have replaced it at 80k.

did the o2 sensor replacement solve the issue?
I have a P0137 and P0170 issue on a 2003 C230 now. Resetting clears it for a few days but it comes back. Looking at replacing the O2 upstream sensor and cleaning the MAF.
Any other suggestions? car has about 60K miles,.
