C240 Rear bumper alignment
This is my virgin post
I've tried to follow the SSFT rules and searched and searched but can't find a thread on C-class rear bumper alignment. (It may be my funny Scottish vocabulary). So with trepidation I ask the Great and Good to be gentle... My 2001 C240 Elegance has 51k and yes the trans sender weeps oil - local indie fixing tomorrow, but is flawless other than the rear bumper/fender has a 1/2 inch gap along the horizontal. The trunk lid acentuates the gap. It is fine and tight at the rear wheel arches but gradually opens up to the rear. It doesn't look good.
I can pull up the plastic bumper nearly to proper fit but it relaxes back to old place.
I've looked underneath and there's a lot going on (I also have a detachable tow hitch).
Any help appreciated.

Gordon - Middle England

Yeeouch, that is a lot of stuff to pull together Glyn M Ruk - It's nighttime here do I'll pull a few pics tomorrow and post em. I've just bought the C240 so don't know about the bump history but it's an 8 yr old car with NO dings, seriously NO dings - I've never seen a car without. And the interior is completely flawless - not a mark at all, and I've been all over with a magnifying glass.
The hitch is cool - I believe it's a Bosal and it tucks away really nice and then locks into position - a day after I bought it I checked the spare wheel and found this lump of steel in the wheel well and figured it out what it was and looked unde the fender. Anyway, we just bought a caravan today (my mad wife thought, well if we have a towball we should use it. Where does that come from?) $6,000 later we will be haulin' a 'van all over'sunny' England in a few weeks time. Yeh, you're right it's Autumn and 50F average.
I'll upload the pics and wait for your views. Take care all.
Regards,
Gordon (an Americanophile if there ever was one, p.s. got a Harley too - what else?)

Lovely 240 - it looks really like mine - rt hand drive too of course in SA. Great colour that 744 silver! Looks like the seam on mine is mated up well - like yours. It's just I was parked up at Heathrow and on collection there was another C240 right next to mine and his(her?) bumper was a much snugger fit than mine.
I may have to live with it. We can be pretty fussy us Benzers.
Thanks for the help and take care.

Gordon

Yeah - I'm fond of my car - faultless thus far with only 57,000 Kms on the clock from new. We have a 204 in the family - I like my old 203

So you're going ahead with the C55 wheels. Are you getting OEM AMG ones or are you still considering the AMG "style" replicas like the ones I got on my car a few years ago from that company in California? Mine are still doing great, look as good as new, and no scuffs/scrapes/curb rash.
