Is the Door Handle on a C320 part of the Panel

Is the Door Handle on a C320 part of the Panel
I own a 2001 C320 and the driver side inside door handle won't do anything. I had it checked out at a body work shop and was told I needed a complete driver side door panel since the handle is part of the panel. It broke a small plastic base which is part of the handle. Is it true that I have to replace the whole panel? And if this the case, where can I get a new or used replacement?

What part are you talking about? The door pulls often break and the pieces are available to repair. There are several posts (look through '01 - '03 years) on the problem and fix.

Exterior handle
interior plastic door pull
the chrome interior door handle (for opening the door)

???

The part I'm talking about is the inside openning handle (chrome). It still swings when you pull to open the door but if feels completely free; obviously, the door doesn't open from the inside. I have to open the window and open it from the outside.

Can it be fixed or do I have to replace the door panel like I was told at the shop?

It's the inside handle (chrome) that opens the door from inside. See previous comments for more info.

OH I see. I'm not sure then and I don't remember what it looked like when I took apart my door panel last.

yes its separate! there is a screw on the inside of the panel thats holds it in place.. you need to check and see if the Cable attach to the Chrome Handle didnt came loose.. i may be able to get you one!

Thanks to all for the comments. WaveyKat; the cable did not come loose, there is a small plastic base on the handle that broke. This plastic piece is on the inside side of the panel.

i still need to learn how to remove the door panels then i can take apart the whole car by myself =P
