if you just need the box you should be pretty good with 500 if they place is worth their salt.

I hope you don't mean $500 for the equipment and install.

Remember what kind of car you are driving to the installer, you know he will.

I payed almost 1000 for a custom box on my car when I brough all the equiptment to include, 8in JL sub, Kenwood Amp, PS2 slim for glove compartment and tv in the dash. The box is nice but doesnt look hard to do. I did have him do a clean install to where you can only see the amp while the trunk is open. Mainly because of that nice little emblem on our cars.

look for a fiberglass diy and make a custom box. that's what i'm planning when my audio goes out. it's not even that hard, just a lot of waiting time. and you can paint it so you can't see everywhere you messed up lol. i hate wood and feel that if i used wood the box would come out like ****, and i hate carpeting, so there. i think materials for the resin/catalyst, and fabric will run less than 100 and just go to your local audio shop and see if you can buy a speaker ring or two. basically a piece of wood already cut into a perfect circle. you can use that as a mount for the speaker itself.

good luck.

I have seen a DIY Howard is talking about and it goes step by step and tells you the waiting time for drying. Just be ready to make a mess though. It WILL look like $*** from the start but once the resin goes on it will look better. I went with the audio shop so it anything goes wrong with it I can bring it back and have them check it out and replace it as long as its not the electronics.

if all you want is a sub and sub box, then i'd recommend going with a pioneer sub with a genaric sub box and getting a profile amp, cheapest quality way to go. i ran that set up in all my past cars for about 200 except i wired it myself. sound quality doesn't come with how much power you put in but with how the amp and sub is matched. i ran a set up at about 300w rms and it was more than enough. i wouldn't go with a custom box unless you had a lot of money and want it for show. if not then it might just look out of place. if you need help looking for a set up pm me.

save some money and get a generic box, that way you can properly match the volume of the enclosure to what the subwoofer works best with. I don't know how many reasonably priced custom shops are actually calculating enclosure volume, since custom fiberglass boxes are irregular shapes, finding the volume would require filling it up with something, then pouring it out and measuring it (unless i'm over thinking it). If all you're going for is some big loose boom, then i guess that doesn't matter though.

Speaking of subs in a coupe, the best setup i've ever heard using generic boxes and mid-prices components was a friend that has an intergra, 2 rear firing 10's in the trunk, and in the backseat 2 12's facing front....was so killer.

So if you wanna keep your trunk completely clean, depending on how much you use your backseat, you can get 2 pickup truck boxes that go on the floor behind the front seats, or get 2 front or upwards firing subs to have on your back seat..(there is a small backseat on the coupes right? lol)

Maybe two 10's in the truck will work... the trunk isn't all that small in the c280. then add for a amp and cap.

i just remembered my friend has a 350z and he had the same problem. where and how to put subs. you guys have similar insides. i told him to go use a bazooka sub. looks and sounds real nice and clean. if you can find one with a built in amp would make things easier for you.

Get the NOS series! you can fool people you have NOS! lmao!

heres the site.
