a really cheap one mph or kph doesn't matter because we changed to kph in 05. I haven't got a star though and don't fancy messing around with one. Its not a big deal was only gonna do it if i could do it for cheap

2. You need 2 new fuel pumps with the new MAPS sensors to make the fuel gauge to work like it should. Needs programing to rear SAM.

Other than that it is the same as the above cluster retrofit.

am guessing this Applies to me since i have a 2001 C320?
do you have the part number for the new Fuel Pumps with new MAPS?

What about the Bracket that holds the Cluster in Place do i need to replace it aswell? also do you have a picture of how the W209 Cluster Looks in a
W203 just would like to see how the ''Gaps" look!

and since i have to replace my cluster i might aswell upgrade to a BETTER looking one!

thanks!

Here is what I would do:

I would buy a MOST cluster and try. And have in concideration that I might have to get the new fuel pumps..(Used that is). So if it didnt work..I would just buy them then. They are replaced under the back seat.

I'll get a pic of the gaps..

Great work. I'm especially impressed with the cluster. I've got an '05, so I'm just interested in possibly doing a climate control panel swap. I've never liked the little analog dials, and would love to have the digital display. I've read the whole thread, but I don't think I missed this: What model did you get the new digital climate control panel from? Or do you have a part number?

Also, do you know if it will be possible to change the temperature display from celsius to fahrenheit? In other words, is that a master setting controlled through the MFD/steering wheel buttons, or is that a panel-specific setting (US spec vs. Euro spec)?

You can buy any unit from a C-class or CLK..But you must get a farenheit unit..Can not be programed as far as I know.

What model years for the C or CLK could I use? I thought that '05+, all the w203 panels were the same (updated from the original, 01-04 style, but with analog knobs for temperature control)??

I couldn't find anything on the U.S. eBay, but Ebay Germany has an SLK panel that was the closest I could find to what Chris used:

http://cgi.ebay.de/Klimabedienteil-S...item19b784480b

Do you think something like that would work? Even if it did, it would probably be celsius, though.

It is only the wood panel that is smaller. Not the AV/Clima unit that we discuss here..That one is identical on both models.

You can use all units from late 2004 to 2007. Not the SLK one. It is different. Only C-class,CLK and 2008-2009 G-class.

I have a 2002 C32 AMG with out the Navi but with the BOSE system....

Now i want to make sure those are the correct items to buy for this conversion. I understand i need the 30$ plastic frame as well.. My other question is Where can i buy the Wire loom? And is the system pretty much plug in play after that? Now as i have the bose system i read the system may not see the BOSE AMP.... Can i replace it with Harman/Kardon Sound AMP or use it as is...
You have most of the answers in the thread already..As I said in this thread..I dont know how it will work with analog bose. Certainly not for digital. If that is what you have? You might have to re-wire to all the speakers and conect them directly to the Comand. This I have no experience with so far and cant give you a certain answer..All you can do is try..If it dont work sell the unit again for the same you bought it for. Forget the HK idea..It is MOST. You have D2B.

I have the cable converter from the old to the new unit though. If you dont have navi now you have to program the cluster to know you have. And it is the same problem with the wheel buttons here as I described before with the old cluster. This is also already described in this thread.

Quick answers:

Items: Yes.
Frame: Yes.
Loom: I have it.
PnP: Not with bose.
Bose: Have no idea at the moment.
H/K: No.

In the MFD you can choose through the Menu Options and Settings to display Celsius or Fahrenheit, we switch back and forth from KPH to MPH and Celsius to Fahrenheit respectively when we travel up into Canada. The MFD AND the Digital Climate Controller will display both.

I know reading my own research in the past, that the Digital HVAC controller can be a hit or miss, and even in the WIS there are pre-requisites and equipment you need for the upgrade, the WIS also gives you build specific dates to match part numbers to – I have posted this info here in the w203 and in the AMGw203 forum for your use.

Try euromerc.co.uk
They have 2 unit with 2 different part number. Choose wisely.

Thank Chris, that is GREAT to know! I did a lot of research before buying mine, and I am glad to say it was plug and play and worked right away! Glad the four HVAC controllers you have tried, especially on a facelift upgrade worked!
Thanks,
Jake

I probably already know the answer to this question, but I figure it's worth a shot:

Are there any digital climate control units that *might* work with the w203 and not have the additional useless buttons? For example, the W204 climate control unit would function perfectly (if it actually works in our car, which I doubt)

I hate the analog unit, it's junk, but I cant get over the useless button / dial.

Something like this:
(but it looks like this unit has no air sampling built in because it's separate in the W204, so based on that alone it would be out )

The button for the charcoal filter (actually I believe your car has that option) but those of us with the 05+ C class don't have that with the exception of the C320.

Cool New Guy

This is my first post here at mbworld! I love this site, I bought my first Mercedes this past weekend on saturday, I havnt stopped reading mbworld for the last 2 days now!

For my first mod to my car I would love to upgrade my HU.

I bought a 2007 MB c230 sport. with the 6 disk changer in the glove box..
what it doesnt have
  • Comand HU
  • iPod hookup (a 2007 without iPod just blows my mind)
  • Bluetooth
  • bluetooth wiring
I have read the AVIC thread and this one. I would prefer to upgrade with a MB HU rather then a aftermarket one.

What i want
  • Navigation that works in the US
  • Bluetooth that works with my iPhone 3GS
  • iPod Control
  • DVD movie playing thats hacked and can play while in motion
  • All my steering wheel controls to work
Can any point me in the right direction..
NTG 2.5 or the Pioneer Avic Z110BT

My mind feels like its on overload with all that i have read in the last 2 days..

thanks
