...for people with a bit more options on a car...and for those who want everything to work:

- when swapping the upper switch row from oldskool to newskool you need to be aware that both the ESP switch and the parktronic switch are no longer able to switch the features OFF and back ON again meaning that you can only switch these features OFF once and cannot switch them back on untill you switch off your car and restart it again...the same goes for the power rear sunshade button - that feature requires a newer rear SAM to maintain working.
In order to maintain the OFF/ON feature of these switches, the ESP unit and the parktronic unit need to be changed out for newer ones

- W211 instrument clusters do not work in a 203...W209 instrument clusters do work and those have been retrofitted several times before (with proper odometer readings)

- the W203 Bose sound does not work with a NTG2.5 comand

greetingz,

A mention would have been nice, given that I was the first to do this back in 2008 and answered your questions on Benzworld

Here are the in-depth guides I wrote last year:

Hi,
i could use any help available regarding my facelifting project that i have started too.
Resuming:
My car is a manual w203 c200K with the M111 engine MY2002 (a reduced capacity m111 for countries with odd tax systems like Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal) and an audio 10 for ice.
I have the comand (dvd aps euro version)
I have a spare working audio 20 in case comand has any problem
I have a clk 63 amg instrument cluster
i have the adaptor loom
I have the necessary center console parts, including new gear gaitor and shifter
I have the necessary frame for the cluster and the necessary cage for the comand

Everything is working perfectly, except the Comand. It needs coding to work as the car did not have navigation earlier. the cluster is fully working and controlled from the steering wheel. The audio 20 works,it is controllable from the steering wheel, and it sends info to the cluster. .

I have dismantled almost everything, but i cannot put the cage in the dash. In the photos that chris posted it is obvious that to put the cage in he removed or just moved a bit the console between the seats with the armrest,. I found some screws (2 at the bottom of the dash and 2 in the armrest) but i am not sure if they are the only ones and i certainly do not want to break anything now that i am reaching to the end of the procedure.

I am pretty confident that i can end the procedure myself (the coding will be done by a good friend) and make a good surprise to my indy who will see a different car to the one he serviced last time.

Adding to this i try to figure out a connector for the upper ucp panel. I do not want too much trial and error on this cause i am afraid of burning something

Any help will be greatly appreciated

PS: I am waiting an rca adaptor for the comand. Will i be able to connect anything on it or do i need anything else???? I do not want to open the dash again.

PS2: having so much dash parts dismantled a crazy idea grows in my mind. How difficult is it to put leather or alcantara on the glove box, the center console, the plastic trims under the steering wheel, and the armrest????
I believe that workshops charge more for the dissmantling the parts and put them back on rather than the leather job itself.

You know there's an Aux cable that you can put it in both Comand 2.0, APS and MCS II

Well i've read a lot up on this, and some gaps still remain. It seems possible for a w203 2002 c200 to be updated to the new Comand 2.5 DVD with blue tooth (blue tooth being the real reason for the update)

1. Do the steering wheel buttons still work with a swap form Audio 10 to Comand 2.5?
2. Does D2B only effect the phone system and/or CD stacker? I know the new system is MOST but this has nothing to do with the rest of the car? like steering wheel and LCD display?
3. Apart from the new UCP buttons / climate control / Comand DVD unit / New Mount bracket is there any other parts needed? apart for rewiring.

Most is already answerd in the thread.

1. Works only with a new cluster. Already discussed!
2. Yes. Steering wheel goes over Can-Bus
3. Wood parts and adapter cable set. All info in the thread.
