Water Spots on my Windows
I am stuck parking my car outside on a regular basis, and because of the sprinkler system, I have gotten water spots on my windows. I washed them thoroughly, and even soft-scrubbed the windows, but I cannot get them off. Does anyone have any thoughts/recommendations of what to use to clean my windows and get rid of these water spots? Thanks in advance!

Just took care of this on my Dakota - got some 0000 steel wool and used that plus windex. Be careful you don't go off the window and scratch paint.
Now if someone had a cure for getting the water spots off the paint......

Easy now, no need for steel wool. I have had this same issue and simply wiping the windows off with vinegar will do the trick. Just be careful and DO NOT GET vinegar on the paint as it can damage it. Wipe the windows down gently and hose them off before your next wash job and you're all set.

Scale on windows. There are many descalers available for bathroom cleaning that will remove any mineral deposits on glass (usually called limescale removers). Anything containing Benzalkonium Chloride or other non-ionic surfactants will remove those hard water marks.
Please do not get such products on the car's paintwork!!!!! If you have tints - then forget this method as well. It is only effective on glass.

The steel wool isn't that bad, guys. After using it on the truck I wouldn't hesitate on the Merc windows. Just use the super fine #0000 stuff. No scratches at all if that's what you're worried about. The deposits I had were on so tough I have a feeling you'd be scraping even if you did use chemicals. It looks so good I'm going to have to go back and do the rest of the windows now.
My brother-in-law used to work for a professional glass cleaning company and do bootleg jobs on the side. We had him do our house and he used the chemicals and razor blades (!) to scrape off the hard water spots. The chemicals definitely worked though, and his boss wouldn't let anyone know what he put in the solutions (2 different solutions for different problems/deposits).
If you google 'removing hard water spots' quite a few sites mention the fine steel wool. Not trying to push the steel wool on you, just don't want you to think my post was mis-informed... Please let us know what works for you.
