Racing a C230 Coupe
Hi There,
For reasons too many to go into, I've been absent from this board for several years. I've still got my C320 coupe w/manual xmission. I have about 40K miles on it.
I seem to recall that someone set up his C230 to class race a few years ago. I think he lived in the Northeast. Anyone know how that turned out?
Just curious.

Out Of Control!!
That was Thomas (Nukblazi), from NJ/MD. He blew the diff and gave up on the coupe for pure racing. Think he bought an E30 and was happy racing it; haven't talked to him in a couple of years.
On a happy note, I was able to get his uninstalled Supersprint header for a fairly cheap price after he gave up. So it wasn't a total loss.

My dealership in Ottawa raced a C-coupe, it was completely stripped of every optional piece, including the entire interior.
The dealer owns a Honda dealership too and has given up racing the C-coupe. It was just too expensive, taking $20K of custom parts (PnP head, standalone ECU, LSD rear diff with CTS custom half-shafts, ...) and still wasn't as fast as the Civic Si with bolt ons.
They eventually threw a rod through the side of the block and were sourcing a used M271, and I think that's where its racing career ended. Poor C-class, it was never designed for the track.
