Your car/garage space ratio?
Door 1 My C230 Coupe
Door 2 Moms Cl500
Door 3 Dads CLK55
Door 4 Families ML 430
Dads Chevy truck stays outside no matter what.
2 spaces, 2 cars. I rule the garage with an iron fist, too - no semi-useful garbage takes up space in my carport!
Garages are for parking cars in, not for use as oversized storage closets!
When we moved to Texas and started looking at houses, we noticed that they did not come with basements (standard up north). So we decided to get a 3 car garage to use one bay for our "stuff" which includes workbench, lawnmower, trimmer etc. My neighbor has a 3 car garage also, and can't even fit one car in there with all his "Stuff". So he leaves their Corvette, Lincoln, and Honda Minivan out in the elements.

but, i would like a 5 car garage (see my 5-car thread in off-topic forum) and a separate workspace like norm...

Call me opinionated, rev - but that's a sure sign that your neighbor has too much stuff. Time for a garage enema!
We have a small townhouse with a 1 car garage that HAD a small storage room at one end. After taking some careful measurements of the wifes Accord sedan, my c230k, and the garage/storage room combo, I determined I could fit both cars after removing the wall that divides the garage. Sure enough, both cars fit end to end with about 4 inches to spare. The unit is 17 feet wide. The trick is pulling up far enough (cars almost touching). I still have room for 3 workbenches, a rollaway, firewood, trashcans, kayak etc. on the sides of the cars and plenty of room to open the car doors. It's quite a sight to behold. The neighbors never thought all that stuff and 2 cars could fit in a 1 car garage.
2 MG's (angled and backed in)
1 MB C230
1 big ol' tractor
and a workbench with a lot of stuff hanging off the walls.
A neat trick I picked up from my dad:
Park your car where you ideally want it, with enough room to walk around the front and sides. Then suspend a tennis ball from a string attached to your ceiling/rafters so it strikes the center of the windshield. This way you wont ding your Benz or your lawnmower when you come home after Superbowl parties.
(they have electronic devices, but this method is much cheaper, and I'm saving for an SL)
1:1 here.

1) use "practice" golf ***** (the "Wiffle Ball" kind). They're lighter than the tennis ball, and don't pick up moisture from damp windshields or humid air.
2) Hang the ball so that it falls on the windshield directly in front of the driver's position (not the center of the glass). It helps my wife and kids center the car better when they aim to touch the ball right in front of their noses.
Oh, I have a 2/2.
