Aftermarket Brake Package

Hey guys, my '06 230 is in need of brakes. Not sure if I need rotors or not but I would like to upgrade to an aftermarket package. Anything good out there?

Thanks

If you need rotors, I would recommend getting OEM rotors from an online retailer. You can usually get them for 25-40% off of dealer retail price. Many people have had great luck with Akebono ceramic pads. They last a lot longer and dust less than OEM pads. These can also be purchased from online retailers for a pretty cheap price.

Aftermarket parts will be hit or miss. Many times people have had the wrong rotor sent to them, even after verifying the year, make and model of the car. Some aftermarket options that are popular are the EBC rotors and R1 Concepts rotors. I personally don't like the EBC rotors as they are a strange bronze color. Please note some of the EBC rotors are just repackaged rotors from another manufacturer, if you search you will find plenty of threads on thsi. I personally have R1Concepts cross drilled and slotted rotors on front and rear, and are happy with them. There are a few other forum members who have also been satisfied with R1. R1 Concepts uses "Centric" rotor blanks, and then machines them in house to add cross-drill/slots.

Do a search and you will find a wealth of information about brakes.

Anything's possible with enough money.

If you didn't win the lottery, saying what your current setup is for your entire car, what you're looking to spend, etc., would do wonders towards getting a half-decent answer.

OK, I like EBC& the price. Im willing to spend up to $800-$1000 on rotors and pads complete. Black, do you have the yellowstuff EBC's?

You might want to re-read his post; he's got EBC rotors and Akebono ceramic pads (which I have as well, I'd recommend them - no dust, and very good stopping power).

For 800-1k, you could get 2-piece rotors & Akebonos; I've got that setup with Racing Brake rotors - do a search, as I posted pics. I upgraded to C32 calipers, though (not sure if 2006 C's use the same rotor size or not).
