New owner of c230, have some questions to ask?
Hi all, i just recently purchase a 05 c230 kompressor with about 34k miles for $17499. I have a few questions. My first question is on the driver seat for my car i notice that it doesnt have a manual seat slider thing where u can manually slide the seat closer or further but on the passenger seat it does have it. I ask the dealership guy about it and he said that the c230 kompressor doesnt come with the manual seat slider for the driver seat because its all automatic and u can control it using the controls on the side of the driverside door pannel. Well even after using the controls on the door to slide the seat closer i still feel like im very far away from the gas pedal. I just find it weird that mercedes would only allow the driver seat to come that far, i feel like the seat can still move up closer. Now im only 5'6 and i really have to stretch my legs in order to floor the gas pedal ( not that im going to be doing that). Is the dealership telling me the truth or did the maunal slider for the driver seat broke off and he just didnt want to replace it? My last question is regarding the rpm, my idle stays right below 10k rpm, is this normal? The car doesnt have a rough idle or anything the engine is actually really quiet i just want to make sure the 10rpm idle is normal? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

The warm-engine idle should be right under the "10" RPM yes, this is 1,000 RPM.
If you have controls on the door like my C230 for the driver's seat, you have the power/memory option. I'm 5'6", too, and have no issues with reaching the pedals. My seat will go a lot closer to the pedals than I'm comfortable with and will travel so far back that I can't reach them at all. Maybe there is something wrong with your seat?
BTW.. that price was a bit high. Did you get an extended warranty or anything?

My 2005 C230 idles about 650 when warm. I have the manual seat adjustment fore and aft, and if I had it all the way forward, my legs would be hittting the dash. Reade the owner's manual. Itr will answer many questions about the car that you will likely ask.

I think that the driver seat does come with a maunal seat adjustment because even after adjusting the seat using the controls on the driver door pannel it still feels like you're sitting far from the gas pedal. My girl is not able to drive this car because she can barely touch the gas/brake pedal. How much would it cost to install a manual seat adjustment?

If you have the controls on the door panel with the memory dial 1,2,3 you DO NOT have a manual seat adjustment. If the controls are on the door the seat is fully powered. Obviously something is wrong with your car's power seat motors or tracks. My power driver's seat will smash me into the dash and I'm 5'6". You have a problem with the seat motors or tracks.
I'd think $15k is more like it for a 2005 C230K. They're five years old and that's 50% of original value which is probably generous even still. But that's just my opinion.. if you're happy with the car and your deal that is all that matters.

- Your idle seems to be fine, Mines runs the same way.
- Now, There should be a lever under the driver and passenger seat to move it forward and backward manually, as mines does. If it does not and if you don't have the power memory option, then you should get this checked out by your dealer. I have never heard of an issue like this.

Mine goes all the way forward. Sometimes when there are hot chicks in my car I have to pull it all the way forward and it's not because they don't fit in the back

Heres a picture of my idle, it seems kinda high to me but i guess this is normal? I'll get pictures of my seat later today. I feel like the seat can still move closer to the dash maybe something is wrong with the motor or track like someone mention.

Maybe the bottom-front of the seat it too high. Try lowering that?

I honestly believe that's how far it goes. When I pull my seat all the way forward to vaccume the car it looks like the way you have it. Maybe just a little bit further.

it is going to get cleaned Friday after my car gets its oil change and trans service.

I have an 05 c230 kompressor and both of my seats have the lever? do you have the seat adjuster buttons on your door? never the the less its a possibility that the lever broke off! my fiance is 5'5 and the seat adjust's perfect for her feet to reach the pedals without any problem?
