Aftermarket radio install steering wheel control help

I have read a lot about this topic but I have had no success. I was hoping to find pictures or a diagram on what interface to use when installing a Kenwood aftermarket radio.

I have a 2006 C230 with the basic headunit. The harness in the car is the Fakra style (The big plug).

I tried the Pac Audio units (SWI-JACK + SWI-CAN) hoping these would work but I had no luck. Someone told me I was using the wrong Pac Audio unit. They suggested I get the SWI-CAN2 instead.

I did some more research and found that Kenwood makes a couple of interfaces (CAW-CCANME1 + CAW-CANUN1) and (CAW-MB1500) but they are not available in the US.

Does anyone have any advice?

Here is a picture of the harness I am working with.

The instructions that came with the Pac Audio units want me to use the Can (+) and Can (-) wires.

Can someone point out which wires are the can wires?

Thanks for the reply WaveyKat. I did search all the aftermarket radio threads and there isn't a thread that goes into detail on this subject. Take a look yourself.

I was hoping to get some help and not told to search some more.

I can think of 2 threads off the top of my head that show the pin-out for that harness, but I think you can search!

I don't know how else to put it. I can't find a thread or a post that goes into detail on this topic.

I don't know which wires to use with the above referenced plug and what interfaces to use with a Kenwood unit.

I will eventually figure this out and when I do, I will create an elaborate post with pictures and diagrams because this forum DOES NOT COVER THIS TOPIC IN DETAIL.

In the meantime, hopefully someone will notice that I need help and will provide me with some insight and not tell me to search for mysterious threads.

Me too

I've never seen an aftermarket unit that didn't ruin the look of the entire dash. The fitment is never quite right, it doesn't match the car, the lighting doesn't match at night, and you're lucky if you don't lose any of your stock features. A carefully chosen eBay comand unit is the way to go (even if the navi interface sucks, it still works great once you learn it).

Now that I've insulted you (claudepowers) for ruining your car with some cheesy Kenwood radio, here is the info you wanted (and could have searched for thus avoiding this whole thread)

Also here is the aftermarket radio thread that WaveyKat referred to:

Thank you ACR! The first link is useful. I didn't search this thread because the topic references using the "Aux-in". I will give it a shot now. I am in your debt!
