suspension question

I have the Carlsson sport springs installed on my C240, the ride is a bit stiffer but the stock shock absorbers are to soft.

Are there any upgrades for the stock shocks? I searched for bilstein, but they don't seem to have any upgrades for W203.

Koni are available for your C240. They are $565 on the PUREmotorsport site with free shipping.

You should have get Carlsson coilover in the first place , it rides extremely good, I love it . Kwik does Eibach swaybar improve the handling significantly?? and is it ok to use spacer on my front wheels?? cos right now i can't really lowered the car, the ring of the coilover barely clear the wheel.

Wong Edan, I asked about the eibach sways at G&S Wholesale suspension...they have to get them on special order from Germany as Eibach Australia doesn't stock them here. They cost about $500 for each sway bar...over $1000 for the set not including install. I decided to get the AMG sway instead.

Got them from one of the dealers (its called a torsion bar)...you can try get them to order it on a stock order in which case you get a small discount but it will take about 2 weeks to arrive. Normal order will arrive next day or day after. I got the front one for $155 including the bushings...labour was $62.

There is a noticable difference with the AMG sway vs stock...I just got the front which gives the car more oversteer (or less understeer I should day). Obviously not as solid as the eibachs but then again I don't drive my MB like a race car to warrant getting them.

Doesn't stiffening the front give you more understeer? I thought that was how it is supposed to work.

I often get it confused but generally I think thats right...a stiffer front sway will help reduce understeer...in my car the stiffer front sway has decreased understeer due to less body roll and less ploughing of the front tires first...well that's the feeling I am getting anyway.

[edit: actually thats not right at all...yes you are correct Matt...I just re-educated myself...http://www.teamscr.com/sway.htm ]

Corrections:

Koni's nor Bilsteins are available for the W203 yet, even though a lot of people list the part numbers.

A stiffer front bar WILL increase your understeer. If you want less understeer, add both the front and rear AMG bars. The front bar is about 150% stiffer than stock and the rear is 250% stiffer, shifing the overall balance more to oversteer (less understeer).

I might be right in theory, but what has it done to your car? Are you sure that it decreased your understeer? That shouldn't have happened, but only you can know for sure.

Well, it does to not dive as much when taking a quick turn, so the feeling of 'intertia' is more to the side rather than say front-right-side if taking a quick left turn. That is, if I took it to the limit it would slide more to the side rather than sliding straight on the front wheel...if that makes sense! May be that is not understeer I am describing. I also have the amg suspension so that maybe a contributing factor i.e. different combination of sway thickness and suspension may alter handling in different ways.
