Hello and good bye
Please dont bash me. I am grateful for all the knowledge I gained from this forum and for the record I loved my C230, I just wanted more up to date tech and I am no fan of the W204 so I decided to go Lexus because it wasnt too pricey when optioned with what I wanted. I have the 6disc changer, (without the wires) that was in my O7 C230 and I also Have the Oem set of halogen headlight housings for sale if anyone is interested, I dont have much use for them anymore so pm me and make an offer. Until my next Merc, take care! I'll still be watching just not as often.
too much, but I'm suspicious about the whole pedal thing. Unintentional acceleration has been reported in Toyota/Lexus cars for a decade. I'm a big Toyota/Lexus fan (having had experience with a 1998 Camry that never had an issue in 200,000 miles) but it is.. scary. OP: It's important you understand how to shut down the engine in a car with keyless ignition. IIRC, in Lexus cars, you press and hold the engine start/stop button for 3 seconds and it will kill the engine. Just a little FYI in case the HIGHLY UNLIKELY were to ever happen.

Some of the recordings and such that I have heard seemed a bit odd to me. In a conversation with a police officer that lasted a few minutes, no one once mentioned neutral, park, or turning off the car. That is really good advice, Matt. I was actually curious about the keyless ignition in that regard. Thanks!

To the OP good luck with your new Lexus! The IS gives MB and Bimmer a good run for their money.

It's unfortunate the brakes couldn't overpower the engine. In our C230s, I'm quite sure our massive brakes could better fight with our mediocre engine power in that situation. Not that it would be an issue, I'd just turn the car off.

I can't believe it doesn't immediately turn off when pressed, like turning the key off.
@acr, it's for safety. If you press the ignition button on an S or SL it will turn the cluster red and say that the car is in motion. The 3 seconds is some sort of override. If it was just click and off, I would have accidentally turned off the SL we have many times (as the ignition button is on the top of the shifter).
