My 1st Hit and Run

Went for a bubbletea with a couple of friends, and came back to this.
The worst part is that if I remember correctly it was a ML (ie another MB) that was parked in front of me. Of course he took off like a coward and didn't leave a note.
So the bumper has a couple of gouges, the grille is cracked in half, and there's a nice dent in the hood.Swinging by the claim centre on Monday.

They may be able to pdr out the dent, and then paint/blend that area and then repaint the bumper, and of course repaint the grill. Do you have comp coverage, because that is what will cover your aftermarket grill, otherwise you will just get an OEM one.
Good luck. Id avoid ins if you can because you'll see a rate hike

The damage could've been WAY worse, but in any case I'm still @#%*!! choked.Called the insurance (ICBC) dial-a-claim hotline and it turns out they have a "hit and run fund" with a $750 deductible. What a waste of money though, guess I'm not getting my TV this Christmas.

Karo, it was street parking. 0 cameras. I read what happened to you in the other thread, damn, you had it way worse than I did. Good luck with that btw; I'd report that cop too. Some can be real a-holes but fortunately most are OK.
Adidas, unfortunately I don't have the plate. The dumb thing is that it did cross my mind to take the plate of the guy in front as I was leaving my car, but I decided not to because "what are the chances of that happening". I've park outside all the time, and this is the 1st incident in over 6 years.
The grille is OEM. I guess the only good news about this whole thing is that I will try to see if I can get the facelifted grille and pay the difference out of my own pocket. Hopefully they will let me but you never know. Our options up North are nowhere near as good as you Yanks. Does anybody have the part # for the facelifted W203 coupe grille?

I really feel ya man....I'm on #2 now (1 in S.B. on Haloween last yr lol, and 1 just 2 months ago at school)
I haven't gotten either of them fixed cuz I know my insurance will like double or tripple
new 2005 Coupe GRILLE
A 203 880 12 83
A 203,880,1283
20388012839744 (9744 is the colour number for Brilliant Silver)
Sorry for that, just wanted to vent. These things really suck, and I have seen some bad ones from drivers in high school and college. At least it's nothing too major, but it still sucks. Good luck with the repairs.
funny you said that....my neighbor parks his car in his driveway deep inside to prevent it from hit and runs etc etc....a few months ago a drunk driver came down the block lost control (or drove into) his car while jumping the curb goin over the lawn and through his fence right into his car

Estimated damage is $1400. So ~50% off ain't bad since I have a $750 deductible. I'm not sure what "2-way insurance" is but I don't think it exists here in BC.
The good news is the assistant manager was VERY helpful and took care of me. He also said it was okay to update the grille to the 05+ model. Thanks to those who posted the part #.
The other good news is all the other damage to my bumper and impact strips (from another hit and run which I didn't claim
) will also be fixed, free of charge as part of the repair. He'll also be getting me a loaner when I send my car in in January. Also I'll be getting a hood repaint, so goodbye rock chips.
I am a happy camper.

So the car was dropped off at the MB shop this morning. The manager I talked to was out, but someone else was able to help me out.
Unfortunately the grille was wrong. They ordered a 10-83 instead of 12-83 (first 2 pics). The 10-83 looks exactly like the pre-facelift grille in terms of colour/finish, with the 3 tabs on the bottom. They are hesitant to re-order a 12-83 without verification as I'm sure shipping to/from the warehouse isn't cheap.
And in other news, the loaner is a Nissan Versa. It's not a bad car but definitely underpowered. I miss my coupe.

Thanks in advance!

MB also took the courtesy to polish/detail up the car and get rid of all these other marks accumulated over the years. The front is now showroom smooth. Thanks to Michael Chan at the Richmond MB Body Shop. I will definitely be recommending more business to you.

The final bill was $2400CAD.
Thank goodness for insurance!Okay, so here are the updated parts.
A203-880-12-83 (9744) - Grille assembly (2005+ C-coupe, with perforated holes)
A203-880-02-83 - Panel, hood front (chrome "top" piece of the grille, attached to the hood)
A203-885-11-81 Panel, Front Bumper License
A108-987-05-40 x 2 "Grille tab adapter"
Thanks to Wanda and Steve for the highlighted part #s, especially the one for the adapters. The facelifted grille tabs (on the sides) are much smaller than the pre-facelift version. To all of you who used non-OEM double-sided tape to hold your grilles in place, there IS an OEM fix for this!
