2003 C230K Coupe Orion Blue
My 1st Hit and Run
It finally happened.
Went for a bubbletea with a couple of friends, and came back to this.
The worst part is that if I remember correctly it was a ML (ie another MB) that was parked in front of me. Of course he took off like a coward and didn't leave a note.
So the bumper has a couple of gouges, the grille is cracked in half, and there's a nice dent in the hood.
Swinging by the claim centre on Monday.

Thats awefull man so sorry to hear, did happen to remember or see any part of their plate? Lucky you the damage is minimal, take it to a good shop and get it TKO, make sure they do a good mach on your paint its a beautiful color.
They may be able to pdr out the dent, and then paint/blend that area and then repaint the bumper, and of course repaint the grill. Do you have comp coverage, because that is what will cover your aftermarket grill, otherwise you will just get an OEM one.
Good luck. Id avoid ins if you can because you'll see a rate hike

Hey guys, thanks for the support.
The damage could've been WAY worse, but in any case I'm still @#%*!! choked.
Called the insurance (ICBC) dial-a-claim hotline and it turns out they have a "hit and run fund" with a $750 deductible. What a waste of money though, guess I'm not getting my TV this Christmas.![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Karo, it was street parking. 0 cameras. I read what happened to you in the other thread, damn, you had it way worse than I did. Good luck with that btw; I'd report that cop too. Some can be real a-holes but fortunately most are OK.
Adidas, unfortunately I don't have the plate. The dumb thing is that it did cross my mind to take the plate of the guy in front as I was leaving my car, but I decided not to because "what are the chances of that happening". I've park outside all the time, and this is the 1st incident in over 6 years.
The grille is OEM. I guess the only good news about this whole thing is that I will try to see if I can get the facelifted grille and pay the difference out of my own pocket. Hopefully they will let me but you never know. Our options up North are nowhere near as good as you Yanks. Does anybody have the part # for the facelifted W203 coupe grille?

Hope it's your last one. People that don't care about the appearance of their car also don't care about yours. Forget the anger, it only drains you. Fix it and move on. It looks like you may be able to do a paintless on the hood and the bumper cover should be about $500.

1999 CLK320 (sold), 2007 C230 SS (gone), 2000 Grand Marquis, 2011 CR-Z, stay tuned...
Every time I see someone parked badly that I have to park near, or if I just have a bad feeling, I just take a pic... that's what picture phones are for! So far, the worst I have is a door ding from school. They took off a bit of paint on my door handle (so now I have a noticeable black nick on the silver), but there is a pretty good scuff/scratch in the clear coat of the door panel (rear right). It's right in the curve of the top of the door (under the window) and is about 5 inches tall and an inch wide, and it dented ever so slightly. It isn't even really noticeable, but it's something I know is there, and it pisses me of. Just a bunch of crap drivers at school.
Sorry for that, just wanted to vent. These things really suck, and I have seen some bad ones from drivers in high school and college. At least it's nothing too major, but it still sucks. Good luck with the repairs.

Update - Happy Ending
Okay, just got back to the Claim Centre and the MB shop (thank goodness Vancouver has them!).
Estimated damage is $1400. So ~50% off ain't bad since I have a $750 deductible. I'm not sure what "2-way insurance" is but I don't think it exists here in BC.
The good news is the assistant manager was VERY helpful and took care of me. He also said it was okay to update the grille to the 05+ model. Thanks to those who posted the part #.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
The other good news is all the other damage to my bumper and impact strips (from another hit and run which I didn't claim
) will also be fixed, free of charge as part of the repair. He'll also be getting me a loaner when I send my car in in January. Also I'll be getting a hood repaint, so goodbye rock chips. ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I am a happy camper.

i have had two hit an runs, 1st was 2 weeks prior to my deployment to iraq, the second was two weeks after my deployment. 1st was 6 inch scratch on the plastic of my front driver side dam that broke my side marker, the second was a truck that ran in the driver side rear quarter panel... dented in the whole panel and then cracked the rear light housing... the mp's (military police) decided to send a non traffic patrolman to the scene who was incomp. then they made me come back to the station that following friday to finish up the report (weirdly unnecessary the first time around) was told that the report would be ready for pick up with in two weeks... I have been trying to get a copy of it for almost a year now. Meanwhile my insurance claim has been sitting open with nothing i can do about it. I could pay the 1000 in deductibles for each accident seperately, or less than 300 for both with police reports... since both of these accidents I was no where near the accident. Just goes to show you how useless the military really is... its time to get out...

Car in body shop
Happy New Year to all. ![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)
So the car was dropped off at the MB shop this morning. The manager I talked to was out, but someone else was able to help me out.
Unfortunately the grille was wrong. They ordered a 10-83 instead of 12-83 (first 2 pics). The 10-83 looks exactly like the pre-facelift grille in terms of colour/finish, with the 3 tabs on the bottom. They are hesitant to re-order a 12-83 without verification as I'm sure shipping to/from the warehouse isn't cheap.
Can you please verify this grille is the one with all the little holes? (3rd pic)
And in other news, the loaner is a Nissan Versa. It's not a bad car but definitely underpowered. I miss my coupe.![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)
Thanks in advance!

Got the car back - 2005+ CL203 Grille Part #s
Got the car back today. Looks IMMACULATE.
MB also took the courtesy to polish/detail up the car and get rid of all these other marks accumulated over the years. The front is now showroom smooth.
Thanks to Michael Chan at the Richmond MB Body Shop. I will definitely be recommending more business to you.![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)
The final bill was $2400CAD.
Thank goodness for insurance!
Okay, so here are the updated parts.
A203-880-12-83 (9744) - Grille assembly (2005+ C-coupe, with perforated holes)
A203-880-02-83 - Panel, hood front (chrome "top" piece of the grille, attached to the hood)
A203-885-11-81 Panel, Front Bumper License
A108-987-05-40 x 2 "Grille tab adapter"
Thanks to Wanda and Steve for the highlighted part #s, especially the one for the adapters. The facelifted grille tabs (on the sides) are much smaller than the pre-facelift version. To all of you who used non-OEM double-sided tape to hold your grilles in place, there IS an OEM fix for this!
