check engine light on?
Hi,
Yesturday i put my car into dyno mode and did a small burnout. After that i noticed that the "check engine" light was on and everything seems to be normal in the car, its not in limp mode or anything. Im just concerned to what the issue could be or if its something important.. any ideas?
Thanks for your support!

Is the light gone now? Was it cold out when you did the burnout? My neighbors blocked my driveway and I was pissed early morning did a crazy burnout and I got check engine light and it was crankshaft position sensor. It went away after a couple of hours.
Hope yours is the same and it goes away.

if it is still on get a scanner
The CEL is not a "normal" thing regardless of circumstance. Please stop parading arbitrary opinion as fact. It is detrimental to this board.
As Glyn said, the CEL can mean so many things, why speculate? Autozone will read the code for free (at least here in GA). Get it read, post it up, and someone can help you.
Also, you might want to reconsider next time.. seriously.. what is the point? A C230 can barely muster a chirp. Forcing it to do a burnout puts strain on expensive components and only draws attention to the fact that the fast-looking-AMG-body-cladding is just for looks.

Damn 'check engine' light! Ya mine came on the other day after a real cold night (0deg). Filled the tank full of gas and it went out after after about a half hour of driving. (note: it wont go out while driving, you have to shut it off and turn it back on).
... you would think by now MB would display something saying 'loss of pressure' or something rather than 'check engine'. so vague.. theres a whole screen there yet they use check engine which can mean either you just need to fill the tank to get some pressure back or it could mean your engines about to explode. Two extremes on one light!

...because my friend got CEL after he made a lot of donuts with his subie
and the code related to trans fluid overheated.
For sure, you need to hold the brake and smash the throttle to do a burnout on a low power C230.
By doing so, it increases the trans fluid temp rapidly. Thus, throw the CEL on.
Usually, those kind of codes go out by itself after 13 key cycles or so if the PCM can't detect the repeting overheat.
That's why I said drive it for a few days and see if it goes out, if not get the code read!

Maybe I should say more likely to happen instead of "normal"

WINmaybe you have a special mercedes, but for all the rest of us, it actually is pretty normal. Numerous things can trip the light whther or not there is an actual problem, but go away within hours-days.
