comfort exhaust to sport exhaust
Hey guys,
I test drove a 2007 C280 4-Matic on Saturday and overall, I loved every aspect of it. Nothing drives down the road like a Benz. There is one thing I wish was different and that is the exhaust note. In the non sport version of the W203, the exhaust growl is almost non-existent. I understand why but I was wondering if it is easy to switch from the standard exhaust to the sport exhaust you see on the C230's or the Sport C280's sold in Europe. What would all be involved (new rear bumper?) and how high of cost?

Or you could always swap it out with aftermarket sex Search the forum to find what best suites your fancy.

The resonator delete will add a little more deeper tone. That's the cheapest way to go.
Here are the aftermarket exhaust noise ratings from loudest to softest (IMO):
Eisenmann - Two versions Race and Sport- Race is extremely loud
MagnaFlow - More deep tone
Brabus - Deep
Kleemann - Deep
SuperSprint - Not too Deep
Remus - Not too Deep
Resonator Delete

There's a guy in the classifieds selling a Remus muffler and down pipe for a really good price. I'd pick that up if I were you. I had a Remus muffler on my old C230 and I was very happy with the sound. Check on YouTube, I posted 2 videos of it. It isn't overly loud for a daily and at highway speed you can barely hear it (no drone). The sound level is supposedly similar to the Eisenmann Sport.

Excellent!
What about the rear exhaust cut-out in the bumper? How pricy and where can I get one?
Also, I like the list Karo; which in your opinion sounds closest to the Infiniti FX or G sedan?

Here is my C350 (w203) with a Remus. I did not delete the resonator or anything. Just a Remus muffler.

Here is a Eisenmann

They are pretty loud but they sound good. Not a lot of people like them but i kind of like them but they are over a $1,000 dollars. I think they are 1,500 if i'm not mistaken.
Edit:
The Remus for me on the freeway when I get going get's louder. I have never ever had a problem with droning. Also the interior isn't loud eighter. Benz does a good job muffling the outside noise. I have turned some heads when the traction kicks in. Making a turn full throttle then ESP kicking in and cutting the throttle then gets back on sounds.
Vroooom.....VRAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMM

Karo's Remus
Karo,
Your c350 is music to the ears, thanks for the vid. I don't know anything about mufflers or exhausts systems yet. I couldn't tell, from the video, what the remus does to the look of your exhaust. Does it change the tip? And when you said a lot of people don't like 'them,' were you referring to the Eisenmann?
