Well guys, I've learned a ton about Mercedes in the past couple years, and more, and the C240 has been great, but I'm glad I chose to save up for a new car rather than mod this one. I made that decision in mid-December. Lo and behold, this happened on January 20th.
It wasn't my fault. Idiot Camry driver crossed the main road without checking to see if anyone was coming. Hit her going about 35mph, from 50mph. Would have swerved to the right but there was a school bus, so either way someone was going to get screwed. Entire front (except passenger side fender) would have to be replaced, and there was a little bit of structural damage. It was deemed totaled on Thursday. Hopefully I get the actual value of the car and not what someone is willing to pay for it. I've been considering an SLK32 but I would be the one paying for maintenance and repairs, and as a college student/part time worker, doesn't seem like the greatest of ideas at the time. Honestly I don't think the next one will even be a Mercedes because of that reason, unfortunately. It was definitely a good car and pretty fun. Very comfy, to say the least. Insurance company won't let me keep the drivers seat :/
Oh well, I'm fine, airbag didn't go off, and the rest of the car is in excellent condition. Whichever junkyard parts it out will have a field day. 72,271 miles.
I haven't made up my mind on what i'll be getting, but a 6-speed Pontiac GTO is real tempting...preferably '05/'06.
edit- oh, and of course this happened literally 48 hours after getting a $108 oil change and a week after spending $50 on a detail from a local wash (they do a great job, seriously). First time I've ever paid someone/something to wash my car. Won't happen again because I'm superstitious.
A few cosmetic mods I've done since I bought the car in October. Various surfaces I've lined with Polyester suede. Would've preferred Alcantara suede, but its so much more expensive than Polyester, hence the pricetag of the cars that roll out of the factory with it.
Also the plastic spoiler on the rear that was oxidized and yellowed was sanded and polished to a much more attractive shine.
Hey y'all! I am Tiffany and im brand spanking new to posting but I've been lurking for a few weeks. I just picked up my C240 a week ago finally, and I am slow in the process of modding it. Currently, I had the windows tinted, took off the license plate holder, painted the inserts on the grille and the hood vent. Next up are the rims and tires, CL grille, the OEM bi-xenon headlights and clear fogs. Would have had this done the same week I got her, however, I had a nice little run in with that "lovely" ESP light and all of its glorious issues, so I was set back a bit.
