What are your insurance costs?

Okay, I've searched this forum for the last hour looking for answers to this question and I mostly find people complaining about their costs going up as a result of an accident. I want to know what your monthly or annual insurance costs were accidents excluded. Explaining what coverage you have and if you have a bad history, eg. tickets, wrecks, etc., would be beneficial as well. I myself have a flawless record for all ten years I've been driving. But once I get my W203 that record will be hard to keep up. Thanks guys.

WTF? Your insurance won't change much if at all versus your TL with a W203. Why you want hundreds of other posters to give you their premiums doesn't make any sense given the differences in companies, deductibles, states, driving histories, multiple policy discounts, multiple drivers on the account, etc.

You probably won't get an apples to apples answer on this one. There are too many variables that affect insurance rates: Age, location, previous driving history, number of claims, credit rating in some cases now.

In my opinion, the best thing to do is call up your insurance agent before you start looking for a car and get quotes on the different cars you are looking to purchase. Be specific on the year, make and model of the car as that will affect the rates. That way you won't fall in love with a car and find out that your rates are going to jump dramatically.

Since your driving record has been clean for 10 years, can't imagine that you'd have much of a difference between a TL and W203.

Good luck!

I also can't imagine why your driving record won't be clean with the W203 when it was with the TL. I can't recall from your other posts, but I don't think you were looking at C32 or C55 models. Otherwise, there won't be some gigantic power difference. I had a 2002 TL a few years ago, it was no slouch.

Trey - Probably because the 01 C320 has a much more comprehensive list of safety features than the 97 J30 and also much better crash scores.

could be that is what i thought but my insurance guy said that should not make as much of a difference my insurance was almost triple about 2 weeks before i got my c320. the second i switched it over it was at $100 a month. whatever i like it. when i was in CA last i rented a 05 g500. just for fun since i had to tell my insurance company what i rented so they could send approval to the rental place i asked how much it would be to insure me on a 05 g500. would take over 300 a month the women said roughly.

believe it or not i was driving around in a SATURN L300 no points and 9+ years with a clean record with GEICO my rate was only 109 will full coverage. My plan was goin buy the C230 and just get rid of the Saturn. The dealer offered me nothing for the SATURN so i was goin to give to to a family member. If i dropped the SATURN and had the C230 the rate would be 98 dollars same plan. And if i kept the SATURN and the Mercedes my rate would be 114 (Because he explained to me you will be only operating one car at a time). Keep this in mind guys...INS companies really don't CARE about the car itself. They're cheap to replace. They're more concerned about the driver injuring someone else. Because you come into the EMERGENCY ROOM it's an automically 15,000 plus the law suits that follow.

But if you're NOT going to drive the Saturn,... try this,...
- insure both cars (so you get multicar discount - in my case $200/year)
- "suspend" insurance on the other car (ie Saturn), I still pay $60/year "suspension"/administrative fee
- Result: you save $140/year ,... at least that's how its working out for me with my C230 & old Civic. Problem is you can only "suspend" insurance on a car for up to a year,... after that its off. Of course I could reactivate insurance on my old Civic winter beater for just one month at $65 /month and my net saving would be $85/year each year.

BTW,... I've been driving over 20 years and have a clean record. My insurance on the C230 (with multicar discount & "suspended" old Civic) is currently about $100 CAN per month.

6 months ago, I called my insurance company and tried to take the old Civic off the insurance since I don't drive it anymore,... but then my insurance would go up! Since I would lose my $200 "multicar" discount,... but it only cost me $60 to keep it "suspended",... net $140/year saving.

My liability does not change no matter what car I've quoted. I have $30,000/$60,000 personal injury and $50,000 property per accident, and all the bells and whistles (towing, rental car, underinsured/uninsured, etc.), full coverage costs me $50 a month. My total for 3 vehicles fully covered and 3 drivers (I insure my mom as she drives a vehicle registered to me) is $150.

I have one at fault accident (property damage only) in the past 6 years, my mom has a perfect record, and my wife has 2 speeding tickets in the past 5 years.

If your record is clean liability should be about the same for any car, collision will change depending upon how expensive the vehicle is to fix/replace.

that's a very dangerous policy to have. I hope you don't own a home or have assets anywhere else. And hope that car is fully registered to you without a cosigner/registrant. I work in the ER and when a person comes in for a high speed impact over 45mph they are considered a TRAMA which cost over 15K-20K just for being scene in the ER. Then your lookin at long term if the person needs physical therapy etc etc. Honestly I had 250,000/500,000 thousand and paying I believe 100+ - a month and i just increased it to 500,000/1,000,000. And it only went up a few dollars a month. You should really lookin into that honestly.

Yeah, that's essentially a worthless policy if you're involved in a major accident. Those policy limits would be eaten up in a heartbeat.

I appreciate the heads up, honestly I've never really thought about it that way. I just upped it to 100,000/300,000 personal and 100,000 for property. I played with deductibles and it only went up $13 a month for 3 vehicles. Gotta love USAA indeed!
