Wierd flashes

something wierd happen today.....

today while i was about to start my car...i had a phone call..therefore, i set my key to position 1 and leave it there...i did not close my door properly while i was on the phone.

Suddenly, i saw flashes coming out of my xenon headlights....a quick blink and its gone...then it comes again...

Is it normal? even the instrument guage blinks a couple of time....

before some one asks...yes...it was in a dark garage...

Yes, it is normal. It is reminder that the key is in the switch. It is the fog lights which flash, not the headlights.

Also sounds like a good way to tell a thief that your key is in the ignition if you are not in the car.

BTW, it only does this when the key is in position 1 or 2, right? Not just when it is in the ignition? Because I've never actually seen this flashing on any MB's.

i'm hoping that if you get your car stolen by leaving your keys in the car and walking away, you don't blame it on MB.

LOL!! I wouldn't do that, but I'm sure some people here would.

that would be a funny call to the police. "my car was stolen because i left the keys in the car". i'm sure it's happened though.

The original post said the key was in position 1 AND the door was "not closed properly". Maybe the flashing only happens w/ key in position 1 and door "ajar". Someone will have to test :p

Flashbacks?

Whew, that's a relief. I thought I was having flashbacks but was too paranoid to talk to anyone about it.
