well, according to the bluetooth qualification page, your phone should be ok with the AWS-BT since it has the necessary profiles, assuming the phone is totally unlocked.

here is a link to BT's seal of approval on your phone:
http://qualweb.bluetooth.org/Templat...ProductID=2279

However, i do not know what profile the audi MMI BT needs.

I just called AWS to feel them out. here is what I got:

The puck won't be available for 60days at least
The puck REQUIRES you to have a V60 compatible phone system in the car.
the puck will only work with about 5 phones
I told the fellow that I had an 01 E class with a timeport (which is
absolutely true) and he said I needed to go to the dealer and get it upgraded
to work with the V60 - ie. new PSE and new cradle. I mentioned that the dealers dont have any of that any more because
the V60
isn't 911 compatible and he said he didn't know anything about that.
Looking at the puck it is the same as the bmw puck built bymotorola so it
won't work with many phones - thats for sure.
I called my dealer and they quoted "about 1800" to do the upgrade to the v60 bu couldn't tell for sure because the parts don't show up (no kidding, they
don't sell them anymore).

I am glad I went
ahead and got a kit from EuroCarPhone.com, they have a 30 day no questions asked guarantee - I have it all NOW and
don't have to wait for a kit that may or may not work in the future

Argos Bluetooth Phone Kit Installed

Well like i promised, here's the install and comments about the Argos Bluetooth Kit.

Use the Installation Guide for information on how to remover side panel and trunk floor.
Once the you have removed the side panel in the trunk and the floor and can see the cables underneath, locate the orange fiber optic cable labeled TEL IN and RADIO OUT.

After you have located these wires and have connected the "TEL IN" to "RADIO OUT", connect the Fiber Optic connector that is located in the Side Wall to ARGOS and connect also the 25-pin Connector found also in the Side Wall of the Truck to Argos

Make sure you have all the fuses need to use your car's built in Phone System.
There are four fuses you need to check... Fuse #13, 16, 40, 44

After you have done all this, start your car and wait about 2 mins before getting impatient that your bluetooth doesn't work.... that happened to me, everything was plugged in but nothing would appear on console... i guess it take a while for the bluetooth to communicate to the car's system the first time it's runned. After you see it, follow the installation guide that Argos provides on their website, it's very easy... just search for the bluetooth with the phone, passkey is 1234.

This is what your car will display once the bluetooth is connected

nice setup. i have a few questions though.

1. what type of phone are you using? an argos approved phone or something else?
2. what features are working? is phone download, for example, working?

Looks like the kind of no-brainer approach that the brainless at MB should have been doing all along. Something to think about...

Nice writeup!

Great write up!!! Thanks for the url. Link at EIS led me to EuroCarPhone (One of their vendors), which provided some great information. It looks like the Argos Bluetooth Kit is available for W203 from 1999 to 2004 for $799. The kit will be available for the 2005-current W203's in the near future. For anyone who is interested in an Argos Bluetooth Kit for thier 2005-current W203, go to to their website, eurocarphone, to get on the list.

Here are the features the Argos Bluetooth integration Kit offers:

*support of Bluetooth wireless technology equipped mobile phones with headset or handsfree profile
*full duplex hands-free communication with digital echo cancllation
*phonebook upload, recent call lists, caller-id and voice dial supported (phone and head-unit dependent features).
*supports the use of steering wheel controls and keypad dial from your radio or Command unit
*fully compatible with Command and Mercedes-Benz voice control
secure connectivity assured -- pairing MUST be initiated via the head unit.
*microphone muting ability - caller can no longer hear conversation within the car (and Argos exclusive feature)
*take the call privately - by pushing a button, you can make your call private from guests traveling in car with you
*support of Smart and PDA phones (largest range of compatible phones available)

I'm using a Sony Ericsson P910 which is not an official approved phone, but it has bluetooth, so it works, i took that chance of buying it because eurocarphone has a 30 day money back guarantee...
Phone download works, also voice recognition, which is pretty sweet cause u you say the name of the person and it dials it.

Yeah, sorry i should have put a link to Eurocarphone
http://www.eurocarphone.com/index.htm
which is where i bought the kit from. I found myself playing with my bluetooth at 2am last night...jaja.

i'm trying to upload a small clip to you can hear the quality but i need a place to host the file, does anyone know where i can do that? I had a website and i wouldn't be asking for webspace from anyone but my server isn't not working

My sister called me back saying she was jealous i had bluetooth on my car cause she has a 2006 Audi A4 and doesn't have bluetooth... i rock!

sometimes i just feel that these new users with really low posts are spammers. especially when they come on to push a new product and contribute nothing else. omg, i just pointed out their flaw. i hope they don't try to cover that up now...

So do you actually have to have a factory fitted phone or anything inorder to install this. I dont have the MB installed phone in my car but would like to install this, is it possible? Is it just plug and play, no phone activation required by the dealership or anything?

no, you just need argos kit.
as long as ur MFD shows "NO PHONE", no need to go to dealer.
