the quality control of ours and the engineering is at least 5 if not 10 years ahead of those Honda guys... Trust me, I came from there... I'm so glad I have an MB now... Much more solid.

I guess it's the cars we get. I had a first year Honda Odyssey and it had less problems and more features then the first year r230 we have. Of course it didn't have 339lb-ft torque though

I'll agree with you though 100% on the feeling more solid, FWD cars scare me because of the rough driving I do.

this is kind of a secret but the Honda lawn mowers had bluetooth built-in five years ago... yeah right... I think what he's tryingto say is that by the time MB has bluetooth, it'll probably be 5 years after Honda maybe? Or maybe he said 5 years just because it's an exaggerating number... But we have to admit, technology wise MB is a lil behind. But I mean come on, you can't expect MB to be the best and the latest at EVERYTHING right? You can't have the cake and eat it too. Plus they've always been more traditional while the Japanese are more daring. MB would have to value how the market would respond and where the trend would go to make sure it's profitable before they put their budget into new development.

Bluetooth has been available from Chrysler for a while now. It is know as UConnect, and is part of the Mopar accessories. Build a Pacifica on their web site and check it out.

Any more info on the BT in the W203, Sunman? Any indication of whether it will be retrofittable to '04 and earlier models?

MB definitely needs to update the accessories it provides, especially with "lifestyle" cars like the Coupe, which is market at a younger, more tech-savvy segment. BMW has just announced a deal with Apple to have a built-in iPod interface available. I would be all over it if MB made an interface for the iPod that is controllable from the steering wheel buttons / head unit. How cool would it be to see your tracks on the instrument cluster!

no new news as of yet. Time will tell. I know it is going to be available for the w211 E class becuase I have some of the parts for it already. Not too sure about the c class. Even if they do introduce one, I doubt it will be for NON-UHI cars. This is just my opnion from their previous track record. Hopefully they can just introduce a bluetooth cradle in the UHI format. UHI is definitly doable though on any c class 01 and above as I have already done it.

i agree with that. id also be all over an iPOD accessory for the coupe. my brother has PhatNoise in his VW GTI and hold 20Gb worth of MP3's, all controlled buy his stock headunit. It's a VW accessory renamed under the Kenwood MusicKeg brand.

MB focuses and puts a lot time and money in the body structure of the car. It will be soilid for a long time. Pity they lagged on the electronic section, Half the stuff is somewhat uselss, I hope they go back to simpler cars so we wont pay an arm or a leg after warranty.

You know how Microsoft does Beta-testing. They call it the retail version. Same with most car makers. They just throw it in and release it.

Mercedes has had bluetooth now for over 2 years, up and running. They are working very closely with Parrot to build a new PSE module that can fit in place of your old Nokia PSE and accept dozens of new phones.

My 6210 Nokia has Bluetooth. Probably the first Benz capable phone to have this function. Does that give you a hint.

It has been the phat-butt lazy developers that didnt want to crack the D2B system that finally made them want to do it when several other companies decided to start using it.

When you say technology in a car ...... #1 Safety, #2 compliance #3 everything else. Built like no other car is the slogan. It doesnt mention anything about toys.

Anyhow ...... Bluetooth for the Maybach is a reality and there is already a Bluetooth internal aerial for the whole mercedes range.

Have a look at the Parrot website and see what they make. Dont be surprised if they announce a Bluetooth interface for the Benz.

Actually all my mods are OEM mercedes mods and all techinical papers are at the dealer in WIS. Nothing that mercedes never intended to have. My UHI is coming up soon also in the states. I can diagnose most problems myself now anyway.

Yeah, you are right. But will you be under warranty with thew OEM mods or what? Since you didnt buy it in the the beginning when the car was purchased. If you know how to diagnose and fix it yourself that be awesome.

Btw your mods are awesome! I dont think a CL500 comes with some of those gadgets you have LOL.

Returning to the topic of this thread: Bluetooth phone unit. Don't hold your breath. It will not be available for D2B-fitted cars. Only MOST-based models with UHI will have it. It is already in the MB schematics for W203.

On the other hand, if they retrofit the same UHI unit to D2B, I don't see any reason why BT wouldn't work with those.

I have the UHI pSE mounted in my car. I just hope they make a UHI BLuetooth Cradle. I doubt it though since there will be no place to charge the phone then.

That is the main reason they take longer to hit the market. We can all find a cheaper way but only a Mercedes upgrade or mod can add value to your car since it can be maintained anywhere there is a dealer.

some dealers can give you crap about them. One pulled up the VMI on my vehicle and saw what options i had from the factory and wouldnt touch my comand. another didnt ask any questions. i dont say anything about whats added and what not. the dealer i go to now doesnt harass me about them so im content.
