18 x 8 on C320 Sport Edition, what tires?

Hello! I really don't know jack sh*t about car tires so I will turn to the forum experts for advice.

I just picked up a set of 18x8 inch wheels from Pro Wheels here on the board. They seem to have a great rep on there and I am in need of wheels and tires quickly since Anderson, Indiana can't keep their pool table sized pot holes in check. (I kid you not, it went across half the road)

Anyhow, I snagged some 18x8 since they didn't have the 19 staggered in stock. I have the spare on one side and a flat tire on the other so time important.

Anyhow, what size tires should I be looking for?

Thanks for the quick reply. Would a 235/35/18 work? The reason why I ask is because I can find the Continental ExtremeContact DWS in that size. The other sizes are pretty much sold out. It is my understanding that for all season driving these are pretty much the best of the best at this time. Tirerack is also on BING.com's shopping network now and I can take an extra 8% off.

It sucks since I can't really wait until the 1st for the 40s to arrive. The care came with 35s on it when I bought it and that might be why I bent the wheel so easily with the factory 17s.

I ended up getting the 225/40R/18 since they Tire Rack had them in stock. These are very hard to find tires but somehow I lucked out and they had 4 in the Nevada warehouse. I really wanted to go with the 235 or 245 in the back but they are on back order until who knows when. Most of the Conti DWS tires have been on back order since October without an ETA listed.

If it came with 35s on 17s they were most likely the wrong size tires. I cannot see fitting a 35 on a 17 in order to maintain speedo/odo accuracy.

I may have just screwed up. My wheels are 18x8.5 and not 18x8. I ordered 225/40R/18, are they going to fit or do I need to send them back and order others?

Maybe I need to look up what the numbers mean. I am use to motorcycle tires, lol.

The tirerack has links for their tires that will give you fitment spec; i.e. acceptable wheel width. Please look there first.

acceptable rim widths for a 225/40/18 tire should be between 7.5" and 9" (give or take) so you should be fine.

Thanks for the replies. I have been digging into the TireRack site looking for some charts but have yet to find anything.

they'll be fine unless you ordered the wrong offset. ET30-35 you'll be fine.

Yep, 35 offset so I should be good. Too bad I spent 627 for the tires. I didn't realize they would be charging me sales tax or such a high cost for shipping.

Tires 126 each, 504 total. 81.xx shipping, 41 for tax. I haven't had to buy tires for a car in years. I use that money for moto tires for track days.
