Rear Muffler Question

Hi there,

Does anyone know if a 05+ facelift oval tip muffler would bolt directly onto a preface w203 sedan? Would the rear bar need to be chops for the tip to fit?

I really dont like the standard muffler with its down pipe tips.

Also has anyone had any custom tips made for the down pipe muffler? There are aftermarket bolt on tips but they look terible from a side view.

O yea, it's been done. If you have the standard two tip turn down muffler, you can go to any competent exaust shop and have them cut the turned part off and weld custom tips on. If you have the standard non- amg type rear bumper, you may have to trim the under portion a bit so you don't get the hot tip to close to the plastic/paint.

You may want to check out this thread as well.

I believe you'd have to get a completely new exhaust. The down pipes are not very workable with bolt on tips.. as they bend!

EDIT: Yeah! Or as said above, cut off the tips..

I found some pics of pre-face lift Bumper with the new oval muffler and it looks like it fits fine at the back.

Wow! That doesn't look bad at all! He sawed off the two down pipes and welded the tip on?

You can always cheat and take it to a muffler shop to adjust your hangers.

Shouldn't be much of an adjustment. If anything they'll just bend a hanger to drop it 1/2 inch. Worst case scenario, it'll point down, but the angle prob won't even be noticeable.
